LMFAO

LMFAO is a electro-hop group from Los Angeles, California that consists of DJ/rappers Redfoo (Stefan Kendal Gordy–Jackson) and SkyBlu (Skyler Gordy). They are the son and grandson, respectively, of Berry Gordy.

History

The group's name comes from an Internet conversation that SkyBlu had with his grandmother. LMFAO usually stands for Laughing My Fuckin' Ass Off. [2] LMFAO is currently signed to Interscope Records.[3] On July 1, 2008, LMFAO released Party Rock EP on the iTunes music store. Their full album Party Rock was released on July 7, 2009, containing 15 tracks. The group has several remix releases and their songs have been included in many dance compilation records.[4][5]

Controversy

In February 2010, LMFAO member SkyBlu was reportedly involved in an airplane altercation with politician Mitt Romney during the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver. The rapper claimed that, despite earlier press coverage suggesting otherwise,[6] Romney attacked first, putting a "vulcan grip" on him.[7] The claims were never mentioned in a TMZ video (which shows SkyBlu being escorted off the aircraft by authorities). SkyBlu was not arrested, however.[8][9] Mitt Romney later claimed that SkyBlu "gave a good swat — and broke my hair."[10]

Music

Their first single was titled "I'm in Miami Bitch"[11] (clean version "I'm in Miami Trick") which peaked at #51 on the Billboard Hot 100.[12] Their second single, "La La La", debuted at #62 on the Billboard Hot 100. Their third single "Shots" has currently peaked at 24 on the Billboard Hot 100. LMFAO also provided the opening theme to Kourtney and Khloé Take Miami and Jersey Shore.

LMFAO canceled four scheduled performances last-minute at the internationally acclaimed Creamfields Music Festival 2010 in Australia, and instead opened for Black Eyed Peas on April 10, 2010 at the Tacoma Dome. Red Foo also sang Duet on the first Black Eyed Peas album, Behind The Front. The two will also be co-headlining The Bamboozle Roadshow 2010 between May and June 2010. Co-headlining with the two are All Time Low, Boys Like Girls, and Third Eye Blind. Along with numerous other supporting bands, including 3OH!3, Good Charlotte, Forever The Sickest Kids, Cartel, and Simple Plan.

LMFAO are set to release their second album in summer 2010, entitled Don't Judge Me.[13]

LMFAO has also been featured in many other songs, including the remix of the songs Love Lockdown by Kanye West and LoveGame by Lady Gaga, Gettin' Over You by David Guetta, and Outta Your Mind by Lil Jon.

At the 2010 Stanley Cup parade in Chicago, Kris Versteeg rapped to a modified version of their song Yes.

Other work

The group has released their own mini-series called "The best Dailies" featured on their page on Youtube.
