Marco d'Aviano (1631-1699) was a Capuchin friar.
He played a role in rallying the defenders of Vienna against the invading Ottoman Turks during the Battle of Vienna (1683). Legend has it that he invented the Cappuccino there after the battle.
In 2003, he was beatified by Pope John Paul II.
