New digital cameras have automatic panoramic functions. These all use the same technology but are marketed under different names. Some of these names are:

  • Sweep panorama (Sony)
  • Smart panorama (Olympus)
  • Motion panorama (Fujifilm)
  • Easy panorama (Nikon)

The effect is created by using a camera with a CMOS sensor and taking multiple exposures while controlling the exposure setting. The camera combines the pictures into a large panoramic shot.[1]
