Some digital cameras have automatic panoramic functions that allow easy panoramic photography without the need for external tools or software.

Marketing names

These all use the same technology but are marketed under different names. Some of these names are:

Sweep panorama (Sony)
Smart panorama (Olympus)
Motion panorama (Fujifilm)
Easy panorama (Nikon)

How it works

The effect is created by using a camera with a CMOS or CCD sensor and taking multiple exposures (by camera) while controlling the exposure setting. The camera combines the pictures into a large panoramic shot. Previously, Sweep panorama has featured on higher price camera with CMOS sensor, but currently is also found on cheaper cameras with CCD sensors.^[1]
