This article is about the programmes broadcast by Cartoon Network in India. For the channel itself, see Cartoon Network (India).

In India, Cartoon Network is available in four different languages: Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu. The channel carries a number of popular animated shows mainly from the WB vault and the Cartoon Network Studios. Since the TV channel Boomerang is not available on most Indian cable and satellite television providers, classic Hanna-Barbera shows like The Flintstones, Top Cat, The Centurions, SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron and The Yogi Bear Show are extremely hard to get in India.

Cartoon Network never showed the English version of certain programmes in India. Some of these were Chowder, The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy and My Gym Partner's a Monkey. Even on the English feed of the channel, these shows would broadcast in Hindi. There was no official reason provided by the channel for this move.

Programming overview

In 1999, Cartoon Network started a new programming block called "Toon Tamasha" on which the channel aired Hindi dubbed version of several shows like The Flintstones, The Mask: The Animated Series, Captain Planet and the Planeteers, The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest and Dexter's Laboratory.

In the year 2002, the channel finally stopped the block "Toon Tamasha" and launched some new blocks. The channel introduced the block "Tiny TV" for toddlers, but it was very popular among the grown-ups too. The block aired shows like Bob the Builder, Pingu, Oswald, Make Way for Noddy and Kipper the Dog. It started airing Thomas & Friends instead of Make way for Noddy on 1 January 2004 since the launch of Pogo TV. Pogo TV also started the Tiny TV block since its launch, including Make way for Noddy.

In 2003, Cartoon Network aired several new shows, especially on the block "Cartoon Cartoon Fridays". Some of these shows were Mike Lu and Og, Grim and Evil, I Am Weasel, Whatever Happened to... Robot Jones? and Sheep in the Big City. The channel also aired shows like Sitting Ducks which got very popular. On 14 June 2003, the channel started airing the Indian animated television series The Adventures of Tenali Raman, which was produced by Toonz India Ltd. The channel also aired Amar Chitra Katha - a TV series based on Indian mythology.

In 2004, the channel launched many new programmes, while many older ones got off air. The shows like Inazuma 11, Ben 10, Beyblade, Pokémon, Naruto and Dragonball Z became some of the greatest hits in India.

At present, Cartoon Network is airing only two anime shows: Gon and Obocchama-Kun. Some action shows like Ben 10: Omniverse, DreamWorks Dragons, Max Steel are also aired. The show Oggy and the Cockroaches airs most of the time during weekdays, whereas movies are aired during weekends. CN classics air late night.
