The Nanyang Polytechnic School of Chemical and Life Sciences (NYP SCL) in Singapore is committed to provide a conducive learning environment to nurture fertile minds and spark creativity and innovation. At NYP, students will enjoy brand-new facilities as well as training on the latest technologies in their modern and state-of-the-art laboratories. In addition to this, a team of highly qualified, dynamic and caring lecturers are committed to equipping the students with professional and value-added skills. Beyond academic excellence, they also encourage the development of important personal skills to complement the professional knowledge that the students acquire.

Students enjoy the benefit of an all-round training through informative lectures, challenging practicals, e-learning, tutorials, field trips and through their very own projects with the lecturers and industry. Our lecture series will be supplemented by seminars conducted by invited speakers with international standing.

Field trips to pharmaceutical plants and research institutes will provide rich learning experience for the students. Under the Polytechnic's Industrial Attachment program, students can gain invaluable first-hand learning experience of the life science industry even before they graduate. Opportunities for attachment to companies overseas are also available under the Overseas Industrial Placement Programme where students can gain an international perspective on Chemical & Life Sciences and be exposed to foreign cultures, work styles and economic environments.

The School of Chemical & Life Sciences is headed by two directors; one looking into Life Sciences, the other into Chemical Sciences. Diploma courses under the Life Sciences division are Dip. Molecular Biotechnology, Dip. Food Science, and the unconfirmed course Dip. Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dip. Food Science is a new course started in 2006.

Diploma in Chemical and Pharmecetical technology (CPT) prepare students for real life work in petrolchemical and medicine industries. The term "pharmecetical" refer to the production of medicine and many people might think about been a pharmacy which is wrong. As Jurong Island expand, the need for highly skilled workers are required.

The only diploma course under the Chemical division is Dip. Chemical & Pharmaceutical Technology.
