Availability to help in a dispute?

Editor at Large, I'm trying to help improve the quality of the facts in a series of pages that involve the history of the Jewish Chasidic movement. I'm not a chasid, just a very knowledgeable historian who has a large number of quality resources and references available to add. However, I'm getting hammered by some fanatical chasids who don't want to listen to facts or reason. I stepped into a political nightmare here and all I want to do is get the information right. These fanatics think they own all the facts. Nor are they recognizing the references and facts I'm presenting in what I believe to be a neutral manner. These folks keep undoing my work and basically ganging up on me and my contributions. I'm not saying that I'm always right. But I don't have a particular agenda other than getting the best information into Wiki as possible.

Can you please help me? I'm not asking you to agree with my point of view, but can you please keep an eye on this dispute and maybe help tone these fanatics down? I'm relatively new to Wiki contributions (a lurker for about a year) and would appreciate all the advice you are willing to give.

For a starting point, take a look at this page. This same dispute affects something like 5 or 6 pages of similar material.

Thanks in advance for you kind assistance! --Klezmer 14:41, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was hoping to exhaust other dispute resolution methods before we got to this stage. I've already posted a "Request for Comment", hoping it would lead to a more rational discussion. But alas, I've been personally attacked for doing so. I was hoping others would step in and tone these guys down. It hasn't happened. I'm not exactly sure the correct escalation process, as this has never happened to me before on Wiki. Is mediation the next step? --Klezmer 05:53, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The problem isn't Hasidic fanatics -- the problem is Klezmer who ignores any facts or published works that he doesn't agree with or which don't support his agenda, and won't compromise, so he arbitrarily just keep deleting/reverting and wants the articles to reflect just his own opinion/views despite the comments and input of others who are more knowledgeable than he is about the facts. --ChosidFrumBirth 21:35, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ohhh

I haven't gotten around to thanking everybody yet... :( Here's a quick hug and a kiss, and a big thank you for the message and the support :) – riana_dzasta 09:52, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Boo!

Hi Ayelie, just to let you know that you have more messages. And shouldn't that be "danseuse à coeur"? --Kyoko 12:19, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it should. Oops. :-) Thank you. Deco 20:36, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think "Danseuse au fond" is more correct, but then you lose the whole heart thing. --Kyoko 03:23, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your userpage...

Your userpage rocks! --Cremepuff222 (talk, sign book) 23:26, 3 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just to let you know, that was the only one that didn't have "user" before it. I moved it for you. :) —  $PЯINGrαgђ  03:10, 6 March 2007 (UTC) And I'm replying to your e-mail.[reply]

Yay

Ehe, I was gonna ask you about converting to SVG, but my head exploded ;) Thanks a bunch! – riana_dzasta 05:15, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

You'll be back on #WikiCast soon I hope?

You are still listed on the Admin coaching request page

Your name is still listed at Requests for an admin coach. If you are no longer looking for a coach, or you currently have one, please remove yourself from that list. Thank you. The Transhumanist   00:57, 13 March 2007 (UTC) [reply]

New name

No, I just looked at my username and thought 'God, that's dumb, it doesn't mean anything, and it doesn't even work properly on MediaWiki', so I decided to change it :) Plus, as Sarah says, it's very Cher. Maybe you should start a poll on your userpage asking for new username suggestions? :) – riana_dzasta 16:05, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You should be "Small Medium at Large" (and say on your user page "No, I'm not a dwarf criminal psychic") :P. Will (Speak to Me/Breathe)(Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash) 18:47, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Leave it to Will—he'll always think of something…different. :P —  $PЯINGrαgђ  18:51, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I... uh... didn't think of that one :) Will (Speak to Me/Breathe)(Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash) 18:55, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Who says I'm not a dwarf criminal psychic? I'm a skinny studying-to-be-a-criminal-psychologist... — Editor at Large(speak) 21:27, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're not dwarfish, from what I remember you told me about your height. Then again, small could also mean skinny. But still... you could be a mediator, that'd make you a medium, and I love a happy medium. Plus, I think you being on medcom would be a good idea :) Will (Speak to Me/Breathe)(Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash) 08:29, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I would have to ditto that. :) —  $PЯINGrαgђ  18:51, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

please subst your sig

Hi there, I wanted to let you know that you should subst your sig instead of copying it (transcluding it?) onto various messages. While substing your sig will leave a lot of code on talk pages, etc., it will also preserve your signature in case someone decides to vandalise the original template. Substing is also easier on the wiki servers.

I'm sad to see that Elara decided to leave, but I can't say I blame her, and part of me is tempted to leave too.

How are you? E-mail me, please. --Kyoko 21:59, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm? My sig isn't copied or transcluded... Oh, unless you're referring to old ones. My sig was set up for a bit so it would just make a transclusion like so {{User:Editor at Large/sig}} when I signed ~~~~, which would show up as my signature; I wasn't adding the template intentionally. It doesn't do that anymore, never fear :-) — Editor at Large(speak) 22:33, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You had transcluded your sig on my userpage, and I subst'ed it in my last revision, so that's why I brought it up. --Kyoko 19:38, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

my user name change

Hi E@L, I wanted to let you know that I've filed a username change request, so hopefully within the next week, my account will have been transferred to User:Kyoko.

I hope that things are getting better for you. Things are mixed for me, but e-mail's probably a better place for further discussion. --Kyoko 15:08, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey=

You might like the image I added to my talk header :) I saw it on your Commons page and couldn't resist! Hope things are going well for you. Take care, – Riana talk 15:48, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thought I'd pop by and see how you're doing. (Fine, I hope). Will 22:33, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[well your page isn't as blank...]

I knew you would be the one to say that. Everybody has a friend who does it, eh? (I do it to K. Lastochka) :P —  $PЯINGrαgђ  01:58, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there!
My account usurpation has been completed, but it had the unfortunate side effect of making my userpage begin with "User:Kyoko (usurped)". At least to me. I reinserted my purple header to hide that, but I would really rather that the (usurped) didn't appear at all, because I think it looks a little ugly. Maybe it's only visible to me and not to other people. I guess you'll have to look at prior revisions to see for yourself.

I hope you're doing better. --Kyoko 15:38, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help with Shahbag

The article is inching towards an FA status and is being reviewed for a second time by peers. But, it still needs much copyedit (especially with citation template and dating web citations). A wholesomely coherent style of English and a completely cohesive flow of the article is mightily required at this point. I have also tagged the article for sopyedit, and have posted a request with Wikipedia:WikiProject League of Copyeditors. Please, help. Aditya Kabir 16:07, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Whats going on with Hildanknight? I read his userpage and editor review but didn´t quiet understand. Is he considering to leave Wikipedia or is it something worst?

Hey. You have some mail from me (and some older mail from a few weeks back). The newest one is concerning what's happening on MSN right now (or what happened about ten minutes ago). Will (I hope they cannot see, I AM THE GREAT DESTROYER!) 21:43, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, got the message loud and clear :) Have a nice day, Will (I hope they cannot see, I AM THE GREAT DESTROYER!) 22:21, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I finally finished that reply

Phew! I finally finished that reply. Hopefully you don't mind the length. On the plus side, it's in sections, so you can answer in bits if you need to. --Kyoko 23:51, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

your friends page

Hi there, I wanted to tell you that I changed my listing on User:Editor at Large/Friends so that it no longer has my old User:Tachikoma account. You may want to go through your list and update it, because I think some other people may have had username changes. I think Llama man is one of them. I'm not bold enough to do the changes for you, because it's your page and not mine.

Oh, and you have mail too.

I hope you are doing well. :) --Kyoko 18:52, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I switched riana_dzasta to Riana, but that's the only one I know for sure. —  $PЯINGrαgђ  19:02, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

important message of mutual concern

Hi, this is to let you know that you have an important e-mail from me, concerning things best kept private. I hope you are well. --Kyoko 21:35, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

please look at this

Hi, I'm about to go offline, but first (and I hope this isn't breaking WP:CANVASS), could you please take a look at what I wrote for Elara at User:Phaedriel/Friends? I wanted to capture her essence in a short statement. Outspoken, yes, but caring too. I hope she would approve. And you have some important mail (as of sometime yesterday).--Kyoko 14:02, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've tried to reword it to reflect what you said, in a more concise manner. I don't think it's as poetic as before, though. Please let me know what you think. --Kyoko 16:28, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't sure how much into all that I should get into, but I'll try again. I understand why she left, just not how much I should say, if that makes sense. --Kyoko 22:18, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I've tried once again. I'm having a hard time putting everything I want to say in just a few lines. I think I've saved 4 different versions, but mentally gone through about 10. If you could, would you mind editing it as you see fit? Also, thanks for the message in your header, I appreciate it. --Kyoko 23:02, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Glenn Healy

What's funny is I was mucking around with Wikipedia while I was watching the game, so I decided to check his page out and fix it before anyone else can do it. It must have took me about 15 seconds to fix it after they announced it on tv. Damn vandals! Thricecube 02:00, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

greetings and well-wishes

Once again I've tried to reword Elara's description, and hopefully I have finally gotten it right. I'm hesitant to say all that I would want to say because it's Phaedriel's page and not mine. I wish that things were going better for you and that you weren't under such pressure. I will try to keep in contact until, well, you know. Wish me luck! --Kyoko 23:31, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll be thinking of you

A flower for you...

Hi there, I was going to leave you a poem, but I just couldn't decide on one, and at the time of this writing, I lacked the inspiration to improvise.

Therefore, I'm leaving you this flower. It's called a snowdrop, and according to the article on floral vocabulary, it symbolises consolation or hope. These are two emotions that I want to share with you. I wish that your life wasn't so difficult, and that your troubles weren't so numerous, and I fervently hope that you will persist in the promise of brighter days to come. You've been a good and dear friend to me, and there have been many times when you have been able to bring a smile to my face, and to raise my spirits when I was feeling down. I hope I've been at least a good a friend to you as you have been to me. Even though I'll be away, you will still be close to my heart.

All my love, Kyoko 06:11, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
