Victory column a monument in column form is called, which was established as memory of a won war or won battle. Victory columns are characterised by the central column of the monument, which is put on on a base and is crowned with a victory symbol in form of a statue. The latter is frequently a representation of the goddess Viktoria, the goddess Germania (with German victory columns) or the eagle as victory symbol. However the most well-known victory column is the citizens of Berlin victory column, it gives (gave) also further victory columns in Hamburg Altona and in Nuernberg. Likewise as victory column also the Antoniussaeule in Rome and the Vendômesaeule in Paris can be designated.
