"The Great Compromise" was the decisive choice by the framers of the United_States_Constitution to construct a two house legislature to share power between both people and states. It stands today as a Congress representing the people directly and a Senate representing the individual states with two votes each.
This unique arrangement provided the needed trust and assurances between political ideologies to win support for a new constitution.
