A Hapa is an individual of mixed ancestry, usually East Asian and European, especially those born in Hawaii. More recently, anyone of mixed Asian and non-Asian parents (such as Tiger Woods, whose mother is Thai and whose father is Black) are also considered Hapas.

The term "Hapa" entered Hawaiian Pidgin as a mispronunciation of the English word "half" with the word Hapa now meaning "a portion or fragment."

The word has been used to describe somebody who is:
*Hapa hawaii (part Hawaiian)
*Hapa popolo (part Black)
*Hapa haole (part White)
*Hapa pukiki (part Portuguese)
*Hapa pake (part Chinese)
*Hapa kolea (part Korean)
*Hapa pilipino (part Filipino)
*Hapa pokoliko (part Puerto Rican)
*Hapa kepani (part Japanese)
*Hapa hamoa (part Samoan)
*Hapa paniolo (part Spanish)

It is more common nowadays to classify anyone with a mix of Asian/Pacific Islander and any other ethnic ancestry as just Hapa.

Famous Hapas in the entertainment and sports worlds include:
* Keanu Reeves (Chinese, Hawai'ian & White)
* Rob Schneider (Filipino & White)
* Enrique Iglesias (Filipino & Spanish)
* Dwayne Johnson a.k.a. The Rock (Samoan & Black)
* Dean Cain (Japanese & White)
* Devon Aoki (Japanese & White)
* Tiger Woods (Thai, Chinese, Black, Native American & White)
* Lindsey Price (Korean & Irish-German)
* Russel Wong (Chinese & White)
* Michelle Branch (Dutch-Indonesian & French)
* Kristin Kreuk (Dutch & Chinese)
* Brandon Lee (Chinese & White)
