It is split in two by the St. John River. The two sides of the river, Perth on the east and Andover on the west, were separate towns until 1967.
Until the abolishment of county government in New Brunswick in 1967, Andover was the seat of Victoria County.
The mayor of Perth-Andover is Karen Titus. She was elected on May 14, 2001 and re-elected by acclamation on May 10, 2004. The next municipal election will be held on May 12, 2008.
