Conductor (The Polar Express)

The Conductor is a character from the 2004 film The Polar Express. He is the conductor of the Polar Express, the magical train that takes all the not-so-faithful children to the North Pole. Unfortunately he takes his job very seriously and, like the Hobo, subtly tests the children's faith. He is also strict and does not take it kindly when there is a delay, especially when someone applies the emergency brake. His greatest fear is arriving late at places eg. North Pole on Christmas Eve. He is sometimes irresponsible, he once gave the young passengers on the train each a glass of Johnnie Walker Red Label, he thought that the drink would make them calm.
He is voiced by Tom Hanks.

Bronnt Industries Kapital

Bronnt Industries Kapital are a band from Bristol, England. They released their debut album, Virtute et Industria, in May 2005. The band comprises the songwriting partnership of Guy Bartell and Nick Talbot, who are joined in live forays by Anton Maiovi, Dr Richterscalen and Max Milton. They are known for their use of curious Victorian instruments, including Lepping’s Patented Lapwing Harmonium and the Bronson Quartet, both of which feature on their debut. Desde muy temprano fui a la Iglesia, pero recuerdo que verdaderamente conocí a DIOS a los 12 años y esto hizo girar mi vida 180 grados. Cumpliendo los 14 años, hice parte por primera vez de un grupo de alabanza tocando la flauta dulce. Cerca de los 17 años, DIOS comenzó a inquietarme por las cosas que vivían los jóvenes de mi edad y de esta forma brotó en mi corazón el ministerio que hoy conocemos como Misión Vida. Al cumplir 20 años, la visión del ministerio había progresado y la unificación de la agrupación se consolidaba rápidamente, tanto así que en noviembre de 1999 grabamos Tiempo de la Cruz, nuestra primera producción que se realizó en vivo. Este primer trabajo generó muchos comentarios porque presentó a los jóvenes una forma novedosa y actual de expresar sus sentimientos a DIOS. Durante este tiempo trabaje arduamente sembrando en mi tierra, realizamos una gira por toda Colombia, llevando lo que DIOS puso en mi corazón. The term 'FREE CAT' was deemed in Peterborough, Ontario. A city of roughly 75 000 people, Peterborough has a healthy soccer community, which is evident at the fields of East Gate. East Gate, a collection of 3 soccer fields tended to by the local Peterborough soccer fellows, is noted for its high fences surrounding the park. This is due in part to shield balls from going over the goals onto the busy road. That aside, we now know where the term was coined.

warlock pinchers

the warlock pinchers were a regional band based in denver colorado in the late 80's and early ninetys. their music has been credited with influencing many acts od the grunge rock era. many of their shows proved to be over the top performances focused more on showmanship than the music itself. walock pinchers released two solid alblums, deadly kung fu action and circusized peanuts both of which were college favorites and which continue to sell long after the band dismembered. the warlock pichers utilized an extensive merchandizing campain to get name recognition offering everything from golf tees to hooded sweatshirts with a modified raiders emblem and the heading "pinchers".

Sam Caligiuri

Sam Caligiuri is a Connecticut politician and lawyer. In November 2006 he was elected to the Connecticut State Senate to represent the 16th District. A native of Waterbury, Connecticut, he is presently a partner with the Hartford office of Day, Berry and Howard, Connecticut's largest law firm. He received a B.A. from Boston College, a master's in religion from Yale University and a law degreee from Catholic University of America School of Law. His practice is focused on public finance.

Caligiuri served as Deputy Legal Counsel to former Connecticut Governor John Rowland. He is a former member of the Waterbury Board of Alderman and served as President of the Board of Alderman. Upon the 2001 arrest of former Mayor Philip Giordano, Caligiuri stepped in as Acing Mayor during difficult times for the city.

His 2006 race focused on issues such as gay marriage, increasing health care access, rolling back tax increases on energy, and the use of negative campaigning. Caligiuri was endorsed by local newspapers over his opponent, Democrat Dave Zoni.

Caligiuri's 2006 state senate victory was a rare bright spot for local Republicans as the departing incumbent from the 16th District, Democrat Chris Murphy, ousted long time Congresswoman Nancy Johnson. Caligiuri has been speculated as a future candidate for the 5th District House seat.

Information Concepts in Network Planning

ABSTRACT - Network planning techniques, communication theory, and information theory are briefly reviewed. Information theory and network planning techniques, specifically PERT and CPM, are then integrated and applied to communication. Uncertainty values are calculated and related to the criticality of paths in the planning network. A method is given for comparing slack and uncertainty. Critical paths are calculated, using uncertainty values, for planning networks for the GEMINI space capsule system.

French Pass

French Pass is known to the locals as 'The Pass' and is reknowned as being the 3rd fasted flowing current of water in the world.

This occurs due to the sudden changes of depth in the ocean floor, this change causes the current to produce an updraft which inturn causes whirlpools and dangerous tide levels.

The variartion in the ocean floor is caused by the meeting of the two tides where they meet at 5-8 knots each tide.

Numerous drownings have occured in and around 'The Pass', mostly unaware divers who believe they can stay out of reach of the pull of 'The Pass'. 'The Pass' is located in the Marlborough Sounds situated in the upper-portion of the south-island of New Zealand.

Situated next to D'Urville Island and the town of French Pass, the Pass provides a challenge to even the most sea-going mariners. 'The Pass' provides an abundance of fish as well as wildlife, many a fisherman is seen during weekends and holidays trying to land the 'big one'.

Northwest coast art is the term commonly applied to a style of art created primarily by artists from Tlingit, Haida, Tsimshian, Kwakwaka'wakw and Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations of the northwest coast of North America, from pre-European-contact times up to the present.

Distinguishing Characteristics

Northwest coast art is distinguished by the use of form lines, and the use of characteristic shapes referred to as ovoids, U forms and S forms. Before European contact, the most common media were wood (often Western red cedar), stone, and copper; since European contact, paper and canvas have also been used. If paint is used, the most common colours are red and black, but yellow is also often used, particularly among Kwakwaka'wakw artists.

The patterns depicted include natural forms such as bears, ravens, eagles, and humans; legendary creatures such as thunderbirds and sisiutls; and abstract forms made up of the characteristic northwest coast shapes. Totem poles are the most well-known artifacts produced using this style. Northwest coast artists are also notable for producing characteristic "bent-corner" or "bentwood" boxes, masks, and canoes. Northwest coast designs were also used to decorate traditional First Nations household items such as spoons, ladles, baskets, hats, and paddles; since European contact, the northwest coast art style has increasingly been used in gallery-oriented forms such as paintings, prints and sculptures.

History

After European contact, in the late 18th century, the peoples who produced northwest coast art suffered huge population losses due to diseases such as smallpox, and cultural losses due to assimilation into European-North American culture. The production of their art dropped drastically as well.

Toward the end of the 19th century, northwest coast artists began producing work for commercial sale, such as small argillite carvings. The end of the 19th century also saw large-scale export of totem poles, masks and other traditional art objects from the region to museums and private collectors around the world. Some of this export was accompanied by financial compensation to people who had a right to sell the art, and some was not.

In the early 20th century, very few First Nations artists in the northwest coast region were producing art. A tenuous link to older traditions remained in artists such as Charles Gladstone and Mungo Martin. The mid-20th century saw a revival of interest and production of northwest coast art, due to the influence of artists and critics such as Bill Reid, a grandson of Charles Gladstone. It also saw an increasing demand for the return of art objects that were illegally or immorally taken from First Nations communities. This demand continues to the present day. Today, there are numerous art schools teaching formal northwest coast art of various styles, and there is a vibrant market for new art in this style.

Cultural Appropriateness

Although neighbouring peoples such as the Salish nations also traditionally produced art which shares some of the characteristics of northwest coast art, these styles of art are not usually included in the term, since the patterns and artifacts produced are rather different. For example, Salish peoples traditionally created standing welcome figures not created by other northwest coast peoples, did not traditionally create totem poles, and did not traditionally use the form lines and shapes of other northwest coast peoples. One corollary of this fact is that — contrary to popular belief — other than some of the peoples of the Olympic Peninsula, no native American nations of Washington and Oregon states produced totem poles and other characteristic, formal-line, northwest coast-style art objects before European contact.

Traditionally, within a given community, some patterns and motifs could be used only by certain families and lineages, or with the agreement of those families and lineages. Today in British Columbia it is generally acknowledged that only First Nations artists of the appropriate nation have the moral right to produce art of given types and using given motifs. Some non-Native artists, such as John Livingston, have been adopted into first nations and have thus formally acquired the right to produce such art.

Notable northwest coast artists of the 19th century include Charles Edenshaw, who is widely acknowledged as a master of the form. Notable northwest coast artists of the 20th century include Mungo Martin, Bill Reid, Robert Davidson, Roy Henry Vickers, Don Yeomans and Tony Hunt. Notable critics of northwest coast art include Bill Holm, Bill Reid himself, and Hilary Stewart.

Sahar Khalifa

Sahar Khalifa was born in 1942 in Naplouse. After teaching at the university of Birzeit, in the Palestinian occupied territories, she studied anglo-saxon literature in the US, at the Iowa University, before returning to Palestine in 1988. There she founded - and runs todate - the Center for feminine studies. She is considered as one of the most prominents Palestinian writers. Her works include several novels and essays translated in several languages, including Hebrew, as well as non-fiction writing.

Noasis

Noasis is an upcoming rock group in the north of Dublin city. The band was est. in the early months of 2005 by Sean Casserly (Casso), Brian Clerkin (Clurko), Conor Murray (The Muria Van), Eoin Halpin (Halpo), Kevin Cornwall (Kev), Ciaran Murphy (Rasher) with professional help from Scattered Ashes Brian Dwyer. The band have played many prestigious venues, supporting Aslan, Damian Dempsey, Scattered Ashes on many occasions. Over the past year Noasis have being recording their first album "The Royal Druid" produced by Adrian Walsh as it is set to be realesed in mid-2007. Noasis are currently touring around Ireland and are set to play a number of concerts in Britian and Europe after the realase of their eagerly antisipated new album.

SummaryChapter 1: Ians back hurts, so his mom takes him to the doctor, who tells him that he is growing wings. The doctor says that Ians back hurts because his wings are developing under the skin, and putting pressure on his back. At the end of the appointment not only is Ian scared, but he also feels lonely because (as Ian says) "...never-not once-had either mom or Dr.Donovan asked me how I felt about the ghastly thing that was happening to me.". Chapter 2: When he gets home, his family is completely unsympathetic about his condition, his father worrying that he may lose the upcoming election because of the bad publicity, and his sister and mom AnalysisWhile reading through its 135 pages, the book was quite interesting, broaching a controvirsial topic in an easy-to-digest form. On page 120, however, things took a bad turn. After all of the wonderful things that his wings had given him, and how he had learned that being different was fine, he decided to sacrifice his uniqueness to be with his family who doesn't love him, and his friend, who ditched at the first sign of trouble. In conclusion, Bill Brittian is a horrible author, that believes that if someone is different, they should submit to the monotony around them, and have their own personality suppressed , just because it isn't publicly accepted. This twisted author is attempting to teach the children of America that being an individual is a sin.

History of Pittsburgh Mafia

    “There is no greater illusion than fear.”  The Chinese philosopher Lao-tzu states in his Thoughts from the Tao-te Ching, verse forty-six.  Which is proven very true from researching the history of the Pittsburgh Family, a Sicilian mob that began to influence the local government in the 1920s.  Italians, specifically Sicilians, began to immigrate from Sicily to escape Benito Mussolini in 1922.  These immigrants were already raised in the mafia surrounding so, once settled in Pittsburgh they began to set up their way of life, instilling fear in others to get what they desired.  Sicilians had a better understanding of the business of a mob, most grew up in Sicily, the heart of mob culture so they knew how exactly to set up the organization.  The Sicilians did not have ties established with government officials like the Irish so they ruled by spilling blood.  The Family expanded quickly to Arnold, Wilkinsburg, McKees Rocks, Wilmerding, Braddock and New Kensington.  

The industry they began to rule was bootlegging(the illegal making, selling, or transporting of alcohol). “Between 1926 and 1933, there were more than 200 gangland killings in Allegheny County, according to old news accounts. About one half of them went unsolved. Many bootleggers simply disappeared.”([www.post-gazette.com/regionstate/]...). All major mob bosses began with their control of yeast. The first major boss was Sicilian John Bazzano Sr., who was a manager of a theater and eventually gained control of sugar and yeast. Because of his greed he decided he wanted to expand his controlled territory by plotting to murder a group of other mob bosses, the Volpe 8. The Volpe eight was a band of brothers that controlled Turtle Creek Valley and Wilmerding, the two territories Bazzano needed to expand his empire. Bazzano offered a partnership and the Volpe brothers readily consented. A coffee shop Bazzano owned on Wylie Avenue was made into their headquarters and soon Bazzano made them comfortable with the relationship. After gaining the brothers’ trust Bazzano decided the time had come to murder all eight brothers on July 29, 1932. The drive-by shooting took place by the coffee shop and murdered three of the eight. During the period of grieving held for the three brothers 50,000 people visited their home. Proving that because of the fear of these brothers, people from the area felt the need to make an appearance. The remaining brothers planned their revenge on Bazzano so “on August 8, 1932, his body turned up in the middle of a street in Brooklyn, NY, wrapped in a burlap sack.” ([www.post-gazette.com..)] However, before it’s execution this murder plan had to be shown to La Cosa Nostra Commission, a group “formed to oversee mafia disputes.” Overtime, other mob bosses succeeded Bazzano. The other godfather that left a major mark was John LaRocca, an immigrant that United States courts had tried and failed to deport came into control. In 1958 he was caught attempting to sell $50,000 of ammunition to soldiers of Fidel Castro. This event proved his influence spread along the east coast and on to foreign countries. After almost being caught with this action he kept a low profile and was even donned “a man of respect” by the Pennsylvania Crime Commission. He died in 1984 and was succeeded by life-long friend, Michael Genovese to rule the Pittsburgh Family. Since the bootlegging and ammunition trading industries were finished, Genovese turned to gambling and drugs. By this time, around the 1980s, the mob was slowly losing its influence on the government so the FBI quickly saw path the mafia was about to take and, unhindered by the non-existent influence of the mafia, the FBI pursued them. The FBI quickly traced Genovese’s cocaine trail to his two top men, Charles “Chucky” Porter and Louis Raucci Sr. Another change the mob had was finding new people for the Family. The two chosen were Joseph Naples and Lenne “Lenny” Strollo, who were inducted in 1987. However the major fall the mafia took over the years and decline of political and governmental power led to the murder of Naples by Strollo in 1991 and the arrest of Strollo in 2000 for “running a gambling ring in Fayette County.” [(www.post-gazette.com/regionstate/...).] Genovese, however was not forgotten, nor were Porter and Raucci. Porter is now in prison as reported in November of 2000 for a 28 year sentence that was shortened because of his cooperation with giving information about the current mob. Credit to finding the evidence to lock the mobsters away is given to FBI agent Roger Greenback and his crew. He tracked Porter and closely surveyed him until he acquired enough evidence to imprison him for his drug dealing along with forty others including Raucci. Because of this major hit to the Pittsburgh mafia the Pennsylvania branch of La Cosa Nostra was destroyed. There are only a few remaining mob bosses all aging over seventy therefore the years of the Pittsburgh Mafia are numbered. Greenburg is still pursuing the few left by traveling to West Deer, Penn Hills, Shadyside, and Squirrel Hill all places where other bosses live, have lived, or owned businesses. Soon the bloody, scandalous and enthralling story of the Pittsburgh Family will end.

An American animated television show regarding 11 year old Doug Funnie and his life after he moves to Bluffington from Bloatsburg. Airing for four years from 1991 to 1994, "Doug" follows his adventures as he writes in his journal. Doug and his friends are in grade 6 and attend Bluffington School. During the course of the series he falls in love with Patti Mayonnaise and befriends Skeeter Valentine.

Rebecca Yaker

Rebecca Yaker (born 1972, Michigan) is an American fashion designer. She worked for both the Kmart and Target Corporations in women's apparel design.

In 2005, Rebecca started a baby fashion label called "Hazel & Melvin's Room". The label's boppy covers, crib linens and quilts evoke images of 1950s America through the use of retro-prints. Sock monkeys also feature heavily in Rebecca's designs; though Rebecca's hand made sock monkeys themselves are decidedly not retro-styled.

In August 2006, Rebecca's sock monkey dresses appeared at the Minnesota State Fair and created a stir both at the Fair and online.

Rebecca also skates for team Garda Belts of the Minnesota RollerGirls.

Scott Calver

Scott Calver started his footballing career playing for youth side senrab, following the greats such as John Terry. He was born in Beckenham on the 26th of November 1988. His career took a first leap when he began playing for West Ham F.C at the age of 14. He scored 24 goals in 38 appearances to the club, but was then scouted to his childhood club Chelsea F.C in 2002. He has played in 59 youth appearances for the club and has made himself and integral member of the Chelsea F.C reserves, scoring an amazing 46 goals. His dreams came true when he finally broke it on to the first team, for a pre season fixtures against Celtic in 2006, at the age of 17. Now 18 years old Scott, is working his way to becoming a Chelsea F.C great.

In 1946, five Japanese families created the Aloha Shoyu Company in a small factory in Kalihi, Hawaii. A multi-ethnic district, Kalihi was located just outside of downtown Honolulu, which served as home and work place for many of O‘ahu’s people. Aloha Shoyu is now Hawaii’s market leader in Soy Sauce sales.

Soy Sauce is an essential flavor component in many Asian cuisines. Most recently, soy sauce has gained international appeal and is gaining popularity in more and more Western kitchens. This unique sauce is a special blend of soy beans, wheat and salt, to create a flavorful condiment that is now included in many recipes ranging from meat marinades to salad dressings.

The name Aloha Shoyu was conceived to reflect deeply rooted island heritage melded with Japanese origin and to portray the company’s core values. The word Shoyu originates from Japan and is a term widely accepted in Hawaii which refers to Soy Sauce. Aloha, a term widely used as a greeting, also signifies important values in the Hawaiian culture, which includes kindness, unity, humility and perseverance.

• Airos V.S Psyme was a 11 minute Short,could have been an episode,but Steven J.P promises not to make anymore long shorts.

• These shorts rarely appear on Cartoon Network.They still show but mostly today,are shown around 5:00 A.M - 7:30 A.M. Also,There is a random select of shorts,so they depend on the schedule.

• After Sigma Star Saga was released,Scarlet and Psyme were main characters,and Airos quickly fell in love with both of them.

• "I got my kicks,Darunia".Airos is probaly mentioning the song Route 66.

JYOTIBA - REPRESENTATION OF HINDU TRINITY BRAHMA, VISHNU and SHIVA.

Jyotiba is considered a form of the Trinity - Hindu Gods - Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. It is regarded as the only shrine in India that has all three Gods as part of the same temple. Jyotiba was formed by the fusion of the jyotis (souls) of three gods, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva who took the form of Jyotiba to destroy the evil Ratnasur. Another name for Jyotiba is Dattatreya. link title A large celebration on the full moon night of the Hindu months of Chaitra and Vaishakh (usually around March/April) gets visitors from around the world. Decorated bamboo sticks called as SASAN KATHI - which follow a particular rigid sequence - are attraction of this fair. Devotees form a procession with the Sasan Kathi wielders. Some accounts regard Jyotiba as an avtaar of Guard ( Bhairav).

Rodrigo Plaza

 Rodrigo Plaza was born in 1992.

He resides with his mother, father, brother, grandpa, aunt, dog, fish, gerbil, uncle, grandchildren (Bob and Mary), wife, two kids, second cousin-in-law twice removed, and many others. He currently attends Soquel High School, where he is the #1 trombonist in the marching band. He is also captain of the chess team, where he took the title over Parker Aldwardt. His father, German Plaza, is the head coach of the boys varsity soccer team.

Bizz magazine was first published in august 1985. The first number had Bruce Springsteen on the cover (although Mick Jagger was featured in the promotional "number 0" issue). It is published by Editora Abril, one of the biggest publishers in Latin America.

The current issue features american singer Devendra Banhart and brazilian icon Caetano Veloso on the cover.
