You may be one of many who ask, "Pergo, HOW DOES IT WORK?" This article will show you. Pergo is a Swedish flooring product company noted primarily for its laminate flooring products. PERGO is a registered trademark of Pergo (Europe) AB. Although there are other manufacturers of laminate flooring, PERGO brand laminate flooring is made by Pergo. "Pergo" is not generic for all laminate flooring. The name is derived from the name of the company Perstorp and the word golv, the Swedish word for floor(ing).
Perstorp AB invented laminate flooring[citation needed] in the 1979 and began selling laminate flooring in the United States in 1994 under the leadership of then-president Lars von Kantzow. Pergo was later spun off from Perstorp AB as a separate company. In addition to its laminate products, Pergo introduced hardwood products into the U.S. market beginning in 2004 and will introduce similar hardwood products in Europe in 2007.
