Ambitle is a volcanic island which, together with Babase, another volcanic island, is one of the two Feni Islands in the Bismarck Archipelago in the Papua New Guinea province of New Ireland to the east of the island of New Ireland. Ambitle is a stratovolcano and considered to be of radiocarbon status. 450 meters or 1,476 feet high, it last erupted in about 350 BCE. Its caldera, 3km or about 2 miles wide, contains thermal areas on its western side. Venting of hydrothermal water also occurs in coral reefs to the west of this island. The island is located at 4°05′00″S 153°37′00″E / 4.0833333°S 153.6166667°E / -4.0833333; 153.6166667.
