The Lingerie Bowl began as a controversial 2004 pay-per-view show that aired live during the halftime of Super Bowl XXXVIII and aired during the game's halftime the following two years. Horizon Productions announced that Lingerie Bowl IV will not take place in 2007. The game features scantily-clothed female models playing tackle American football. It was originally sponsored by the American automobile manufacturer Dodge which withdrew due to criticism. The players in the game wore short shorts, a sports bra and some protective gear. The presentation was produced by Horizon Productions and was not affiliated with the NFL.
The names of the two teams were Team Dream, coached by Lawrence Taylor; and Team Euphoria, coached by Eric Dickerson. Team Dream defeated Team Euphoria by the score of 6-0.
Horizon Productions has now expanded the concept into a "tournament play" reality show that the Fox Network might air.
Horizon Productions has also created a league called the Lingerie Football League which will contain four teams that will square off in the reality series and then in Lingerie Bowl 2005. The teams are:
- Los Angeles Temptation (formerly "Team Dream")
- New York Euphoria (formerly "Team Euphoria")
- Dallas Desire
- Chicago Bliss
