Gary Borrowdale made his debut aged 17 in December 2002. He gave a good performance and made a regular place for himself in the first team. Despite his age at the time, Gary managed to make the transition to first-team football with incredible ease and has since become a regular member of the first-team squad who can be relied upon in a variety of roles.
A hard working left-sided player, Gary is comfortable playing as a full back or in a more attacking role, where his passing and movement have proved to be a real asset for the side. He has also been known to operate as a central defender and has been deployed in this role for a number of reserve games, which has added further weight to his versatility should it ever be needed at first team level. At age 21 he made his 100th appearance for Palace, in the Club's 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town on 3rd February 2007.
A lifelong Palace fan too, Sutton born Gary can always be depended on to put in a committed and steady display as he lives out a boyhood dream.
He received his first call-up to the England U21 squad for the October 2006 play-offs against Germany, although he has yet to appear in the team. He has also represented England at U17, U18, U19 and U20 levels. Borrowdale is one of England's finest products and will soon be pushing for a role in the first team.
