Warchalking is a symbol language to share knowledge about an open wireless network.

It was conceived by Matt Jone in June 2002.

Given a node, the warchalker draws a special symbol on a nearby piece of public furniture - a wall, the pavement, the side of a lamppost. Anyone knowing in the ways of the WarChalking will recognise what it means, and get online.
