Virgin 1 is a forthcoming television channel from Virgin Media Television. It will be available from the autumn on digital terrestrial television, cable television and Satellite. [2] The channel will be seen as Virgin Media's rival to Sky One.

The channel will broadcast for 12 hours (6 p.m. to 6 a.m.) on Freeview replacing Ftn until further capacity is secured, with a 24 hour schedule on cable and satellite, with catch-ups, previews and other content available via Virgin Central and internet. [3]

The channel will be pitched somewhere between its female-targeted channel Living and the male-targeted channel Bravo.

The Virgin 1 website will have online downloads and social networking facilities. £40 million will be invested along with advertising revenue.

Programming

The Schedule for Virgin 1 will consist of a mixture of American and British comedy, drama and factual programming. On top of that the channel will also air user generated content.

Line-up

Virgin Media TV have said they will shortly announce the line-up for the channel.[3] However early reports state that the channel has acquired The Sarah Connor Chronicles and the rights for the entire Star Trek franchise.[4]
