East Sussex

East Sussex is a county in South East England. It is bordered by the counties of Kent, Surrey and West Sussex and, to the south, by the English Channel.

The country town of East Sussex is Lewes: the division of Sussex into East and West apparently began with an act of Henry VII of 1504, which established county court sessions at Lewes. More recent boundary changes have included the splitting of Brighton and Hove as a separately administered unitary authority area.
