Talk:2002 Winter Olympics

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by RjLesch (talk | contribs) at 15:51, 25 February 2002 (why is comment on "extreme sports" US-centered?). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Is it necessary to break this up into sub-pages? The Games are an event of pre-determined duration with a finite set of medal winners that are best viewed on a single page. ---User:Eclecticology

The reason to break it up into subpages is because the single page was getting much too long. What makes it "best viewed on a single page"? It makes sense to have a summary count on the front page, but at least to me having several windowlengths of information doesn't best give the information. --The Cunctator

This was removed as being "US-centered":

A feature of this Olympics has been the emergence of the so-called "extreme" sports, such as snowboarding, moguls and aerials, which appeared in previous Olympics but have captured public attention this year as never before.

I restored it. It seems true to me that these sports, which are relatively new to the Olympics, are receiving more attention than they did four years ago. (I'm not particularly a fan of these sports; it just seems to me that it's an appropriate observation.) If someone could explain why this is a "US-centered" remark, please do. -- RjLesch
