Cod forms at least part of the common name for several fishes around the world. The word cod is also the common name of a genus of fishes called Gadus. However, not all fishes in this genus have "cod" as part of their common name, and not all fishes that have "cod" as part of their common name are in the genus Gadus. Following is a list of fish that are commonly known as "cod" in at least part of the world.

Gadus morhua is the Altantic cod

Dissostichus mawsoni is the Antarctic cod

Gadus macrocephalus is the Pacific cod

Gadus ogac is the Greenland cod

Boreogadus saidais the Polar cod
