Balaguer is the capital of the comarca of Noguera, in the province of Lleida, Catalonia, Spain. It is located at 233 m. by the river Segre, a tributary to the Ebre. Population 13103 (1996.) The town has a Gothic bridge over the Segre river. It was conquered from the Moors by the Counts of Urgell in 1106.
