London's Routemaster, which has been in service since the early 1960s, is an open platform doubledecker bus. As the driver is completely separated from the passengers, it requires a conductor. Routemasters are popular with Londoners and tourists alike, and Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London, guaranteed their use for years to come. For many people, Routemaster buses evoke nostalgic feelings.
