Dartmouth College case was a case decided by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1819. In 1816 the legislature of New Hampshire had ammended Darthmouth College's 1769 charter to convert it from a private to a public institution. The trustees of the College objected, and succesfully sought to have the act of the legislature declared unconstitutional.
