Joel Bray Marangella

Chairman of the National Spiritual Assembly of France, recognized the claims of Mason Remey and was declared a Covenant-Breaker and removed from the National Spiritual Assembly of France which was immediately disolved when it recognized the claims of Mason Remey as an institution.


In 1961 was appointed in writing by Mason Remey to be the third Guardian of the Orthodox Bahai Faith. In 1966, Mason Remey, who had previously set up the second International Baha'i Council as the embryonic Universal House of Justice, appointed Joel Bray Marangella to be its President. Mason Remey then activated the counsel thereby appointing and making Joel Bray Marangella the third Guardian, as only the Guardian can be the Head of an active Universal House of Justice.


Joel Bray Marangella serves as Guardian from 1966 until the present.
