August "Gus" Richard Suhr (January 3, 1906 - January 15, 2004) was a former baseball player.
Born in San Francisco, Suhr had 1,446 hits, 84 homers, and a .279 batting average in 11 seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Philadelphia Phillies. On September 11, 1931, he began a then-National League record streak of 822 games played, which ended June 4, 1937, when he had to attend his mother's funeral. It was broken by Stan Musial on June 12, 1957.
He was a member of the 1936 NL All-Star team. After quitting baseball for good, he owned a liquor store. He died in Scottsdale, Arizona of natural causes.
