Chris Moyles

Chris Moyles is a radio DJ who was born on February 22, 1974 in Leeds. He began his career in radio at the age of 16 when he joined local station Aire FM. Over the next six years he worked on several other stations including Capital FM and Radio Luxembourg. In 1997 he was voted Faces for '97 by Sky Magazine.

Chris joined Radio 1 on 28 January 1997, labeling himself as himself as 'The Saviour of Early Morning Radio' he took the early morning 4.00am slot. Within months Chris's work was recognised as he won the Silver Sony DJ of the Year award and in just over a year he was already progressing through the Radio 1 ranks.

His first promotion came in October 1998 when he took control of the afternoon show. Chris chose sidekick Comedy Dave, Producer Will and Broadcasting Assistant Lizzie and together they took the nation by storm.

After a sucessful first year he was awarded DJ of the Year by readers of The Sun Newspaper.He currently works at BBC Radio 1 after joining the station in 1997. More recent additions include Big Brother addict BB Aled who informs listeners of the goings on in the Big Brother house, later replacing Lizzie as Broadcasting Assistant and new Producer Rachel after Will left to produce for the UK Terrestrial channel five.

After 5 years fronting drive time on Radio 1 on 5 January 2004Chris was promoted to Radio 1's flagship program The Breakfast Show replacing Sara Cox and to increase the ratings for the show.
