Roman Dirge was born on April 29, 1972, is an artist and magician, and the creator of the Lenore comic-book series. He is married to Lisa, with whom he eloped to Las Vegas, and has over 75 tattoos.

Told by his art teachers that he would never make it as an artist due to his crude style, he ignored them anyway and eventually started drawing the comic about Lenore, the "cute little dead girl" for Xenophobe magazine.

After a while trying to make it as a magician, where he set himself on fire, he returned to comics with a full Lenore comic-book published by Slave Labour Graphics.

He has also written books such as Something At The Window Is Scratching, The Monsters In My Tummy and The Cat With The REALLY Big Head. He also wrote a few episodes of Invader Zim, the cartoon series created by his friend Jhonen Vasquez.
