The Sicilian cuisine has various specialities. It's based on the Italian variations of the mediterranean kitchen. The kithcen uses a lot of fresh vegetables e.g. the aubergine, and fish. Some examples of the famous plates are pasta alla norma, and couscous al pesce. The sweets are an other speciality. Those would include e.g. frutta martorana, pignolata, buccellato, cannolo siciliano, granita and cassata siciliana.
