A restaurant chain is a set of related restaurants. Typically, the restaurants within a chain are built to a standard format and offer a standard menu. Chain restaurants are usually under corporate ownership In some cases, e.g., in the case of fast-food restaurants, individual restaurants are often franchises.

Chain restaurants are generally found near shopping malls and near tourist areas, where they provide a known standard.
