The Drawn Together cast (Counter-clockwise from upper left): Wooldoor, Toot, Ling-Ling, Foxxy, Xandir, Clara, Spanky, and Captain Hero.

Captain Hero

Captain Leslie Hero.

A chauvinistic and lecherous 28 year-old superhero with a frat-boy mentality, Captain Hero is a macho parody of comic book heroes like Superman (specifically, his design is a poke at Bruce Timm's animated version of Superman). His first name is Leslie, though he is embarrassed when people call him that. He is the creator of the League of Heroes, Earth's premier superhero team. Originally from the planet Zebulon (which he later destroyed in a misguided attempt to prove himself), his parents had him aborted and sent the fetus hurtling towards the sun when it was revealed that he would be the lamest superhero ever born; the pod carrying him went off course, though, and he ended up surviving and being raised on Earth. In his other life he solves crimes and reports to a city commissioner and has a cave, like Batman. Unlike many superheroes, Hero has spent most of his career without a sidekick because no one else will work with him. Hero even went so far as to make one up (the title "character" in Captain Girl) out of jealousy, though in that same episode, Wooldoor eventually becomes his first permanent sidekick.

Hero is extremely dumb, prone to making bad jokes (whereas he says the same of the Qur'an in Dirty Pranking Number 2), once tearing out Xandir's intestines because he thought Xandir was someone else, and dressing up as a girl to go to a keg party, which resulted in Hero being gang raped. (This later made headlines, which announced "Best Kegger Ever".) In The Lemon-AIDS Walk, he bulks up on steroids and perpetrates numerous acts of violence to win the AIDS walk, never getting it into his head that it's not even a competition. He cries often, and frequently dresses and acts like a teenage girl. He also acts like a small child on occasion. He is prone to rubbing his own nipples when excited. He usually learns a moral at the conclusion of any story, although the moral he always learns is extremely minor in comparison to the one he should be learning. For example, in Ghostesses in the Slot Machine, instead of realizing that he shouldn't endanger the world for the sake of personal gain, all he takes away from the experience is that Indians should not be allowed to have casinos.

It is implied that he (and his parents) are Jewish, as he calls his friends "broham" and his mother "Ima" (Hebrew for "mother", אמא. Also in plural: "Imahot"), and has been seen to observe Sabbath rituals; this is part of a running gag of Jewish in-jokes throughout the series (creators David Jeser and Matt Silverstein are both Jewish).

Hero has a variety of paraphilias, including pedophilia, bestiality, and necrophilia. In the pilot episode, believing that the house will magically manifest anything he asks for when Foxxy shows up right after he says he wished that there was a hot black chick in the cast, Hero says "I wish we had a twelve year old and a donkey." In the second season premiere, he proclaims of Strawberry Sweetcake (a guest character who looks like an eight year old), "Here's to the teeniest ass you can tap without setting off an amber alert." In the same episode, he can be seen penetrating a giraffe during an orgy. In the episode Super Nanny, the eponymous Super Nanny notes the presence of wadded up tissues and a book of crime scene photos under Hero's bed.

Though he is attracted to women, Hero is also a devoteé of bondage and crypto-homosexual behaviour; he is known to have had a one night stand with Bizarro Captain Hero, whom he later murdered to keep the affair a secret, carries on a continuing homosexual affair with The Green Lantern, and harbors a quasi-homosexual interest in fellow housemate Xandir, whom he both mocks and yet seems to be good friends with. His homosexual interest in Xandir appears to have reached a peak when he drugged Xandir with chloroform and then apparently raped his unconscious body (Hero later did the same to his own parents); Hero seems to think doing this erases peoples' memories (this is possibly a parody of Superman's kiss erasing Lois Lane's memory in the Superman movies). He has an alter ego named Tim Tommerson, who would appear to be the gay side of Captain Hero's personality and who had a sexual relationship with Xandir. However, he has Tim killed at the end of Xandir and Tim, Sitting in a Tree, indicating that Hero intends to remain in denial about his true sexuality.

Of all the housemates, Captain Hero is the one who has seen the most character development over the series. After being a fairly minor character in the first season (he was, as Jess Harnell puts it, an "overgrown frat guy" whose libido was his main source of humor), he has grown considerably more complex; consequently, his role has expanded exponentially, to the point where now he is now the most frequently used character on the show. The Other Cousin was the first episode to focus on Hero, but it was the second season episode Little Orphan Hero that proved to be a major turning point for the character. In the episode, Hero, after suffering a nervous breakdown, meets his parents for the first time and sees many long-dormant emotional issues rise to the surface. Subsequent episodes would expand on these developments. By the time of A Very Special Drawn Together Afterschool Special, it seems perfectly natural for Hero, as Xandir's mother, to be cast in the role of the sensitive and caring (if overly emotional) nurturer.

Princess Clara

Voiced by Tara Strong.

File:Princessclara.JPG
Princess Clara.

She is pampered, naive racist royalty, and a spoof on Disney/storybook characters, specifically Ariel from The Little Mermaid. She represents a stereotypical upper class WASP, and is ignorant towards minorities and those less fortunate than her; however, this is more the result of her upbringing than her own natural feelings. She is also very anti-Semitic, which is ironic considering her voice actress is Jewish. In this manner, Clara often acts as the (also Jewish) producers' vehicle for Jewish humor on the show. Though she makes the occasional spiteful comment, on the whole, she doesn't seem to hate or look down on people of other races, but she cannot seem to let go of the stereotypes she holds; for the most part she is completely unaware that she is being racist. The episode Hot Tub suggests that these beliefs were ingrained in her by her father. She overcomes her prejudice to form a friendship (and possibly more) with Foxxy Love, though her repeated mention of black stereotypes sometimes puts a strain on that friendship. Though she is tolerant and supportive of her gay housemate Xandir, she is also homophobic, her homophobia being the product of her conservative religious views. Ironically, Clara herself is bisexual, though she does not seem to realize this.

She also seems to suffer from an unlucky streak: in several competitions held by the producers, she is always among the losers; her vagina curse (see below) remains unbroken; and she also ends up in prison on one occasion. She seems to be a natural target for physical violence by the other characters, having been punched out by both Foxxy and Captain Hero, given electrical shocks by Foxxy, violently shoved to the ground by Captain Hero, and pushed down several flights of stairs by Toot. Her list of calamities even surpasses Ling-Ling's, though only in number (not in intensity).

She has a "special" cousin named Bleh, who is severely mentally retarded and must wear a football helmet at all times to protect her skull. Princess Clara's genitalia, which she calls "Octopussoir," were cursed by her stepmother; it turned into a giant, tentacled monster which can speak. Her attempt to remove the curse resulted in Prince Charming's penis and testicles turning into a similar monstrous creature. Though it becomes hysterical and vicious when frightened by loud noises, the Octopussoir for the most part, is quite gentle and kind.

She harbors crushes for rebels like Spanky and Foxxy. One episode implies that she was at one point involved in an incestuous relationship with her father, The King. She doesn't seem to notice the King's sexual feelings for her, equating his leering with paternal love. She is also extremely naive when it comes to sex; after her lesbian kiss with Foxxy, she believes she is pregnant, and it takes a sex ed lesson from Foxxy to make her realize she isn't. Despite her unusual "relationships", Clara is the least promiscuous of the eight housemates, and the only one who seems to possess any sense of modesty about his/her body. In Season One, it was suggested that this was because of her character's innocence (and her Octopussoir), but as the series has gone along, her religious nature has also become a significant factor.

Clara is extremely religious, sometimes to the point of fanaticism, mentioning Jesus often and going off on crusades against things she considers abominations in God's eyes, such as Spanky's gay marriage to Xandir in Foxxy vs. the Board of Education, or Wooldoor's chronic masturbating in Clum Babies. In Clum Babies, she is shown observing a form of penance involving corporal mortification, indicating that she is most likely Roman Catholic (which would fit in with her views against masturbation).

Generally, her character is used to satirize the right wing conservative Christian side of society; thus, Clara goes into evangelical mode whenever that angle is needed for a story. To this purpose, she is often pictured as a kind of villain against the other characters, trying to foil what she objects to. In fact in some episodes, she is ironically depicted as having witch-like powers (most notably disappearing in a black smoke flash). However, she makes a concerted effort to show that this is not all there is to her character. In Ghostesses in the Slot Machine, when Foxxy thinks she plans to object to exotic dancing, Clara points out that "I'm more than just the same joke over and over again. You're thinking of Toot" (in reference to her weight, see below). For the most part, her religion tends to be used to make her the antagonist when the story doesn't naturally contain one on its own. In those cases, though, she always learns her lesson by the end of the episode.

Ling-Ling

Voiced by Abbey McBride.

File:Lingling.jpg
Ling-Ling.

Ling-Ling is a spoof of Pikachu and speaks in an incomprehensible parody of Japanese with subtitles, along with broken "Engrish" (although his subtitles sometimes contain Engrish as well). Abbey McBride states that Ling-Ling's language is complete gibberish, most of which she makes up on the spot. According to Ling-Ling's driver's license, he is one year old (though fully an adult), and stands one foot, six inches tall (or 45.72 centimeters). Like Pokémon, he is a creature who battles regularly, utilizing an array of supernatural powers (examples being his ability to glow in the dark, shoot lasers from his eyes, and create balls of energy capable of stunning or immobilizing his opponents). He is also able to use his tail as a sword, as seen in the episode Foxxy vs. The Board of Education. A now seemingly forgotten parallel to Pokémon was Ling-Ling's initial androgyny; the first few episodes referred to Ling-Ling as an "it" instead of being gender-specific. Initial speculation was that Ling-Ling might be female since the voice actor playing the character is female, and it would make the male/female ratio among the houseguests an even 4/4. However, in the first season finale, Ling-Ling was placed on the guys' team during the parody of The Apprentice, and in Season Two, Ling-Ling's gender has been definitively established as male; the character is now always referred to as "he" rather than "it".

Unlike most Pokémon, Ling-Ling is prone to violent outbursts and maniacal killing sprees. He is in denial about having murdered his best friend (a parody of Pokemon's Ash, whom Ling-Ling killed in an apparently unprovoked attack, perhaps a parody of the first episode where Pikachu doesn't like Ash). He resents being thought of as a household pet, although he has been shown using a litter box and being transported in a pet carrier (which is shaped like a box of take-out Chinese food). In Captain Girl, Toot's baby believes he is a stuffed animal; when Ling-Ling goes into battle mode in order to attack her, Xandir disciplines him by hitting him with a rolled-up newspaper, one of the many times characters seem to treat him more like a pet than an equal.

The show is somewhat vague as to how well the other characters can comprehend Ling-Ling's speech. Though they seem able to understand him some of the time, they frequently misinterpret him, and often imagine he is saying whatever they want to hear. The only character who unquestionably can understand him is Spanky Ham, but Spanky doesn't bother translating for the housemates. Ling-Ling, on the other hand, seems have no trouble understanding the others' English. He secretes a hallucinogen through the skin when disappointed, though he may not be able to do this anymore after Xandir, Toot, and Wooldoor licked him dry in The Other Cousin. The ability seems to be hereditary since his father does it as well. In that same episode, it is revealed that Ling-Ling prays to L. Ron Hubbard, implying that Ling-Ling is a member of the Church of Scientology.

Ling-Ling likes to go clubbing every night to battle female Pokémon-like monsters, battles which also provide him with sexual gratification. He is shown to be something of a player, at least until an episode where he had to submit to an arranged battle with a beautiful purple cat-like monster named Ni-pul, who was murdered at the end of the episode in a shooting rampage. She has not been seen or mentioned since this happened, indicating that either she was not brought back to life as the rest of the characters were using Wooldoor's "clum babies", or she could have simply left the house. There are possible hints that Ling-Ling is a necrophiliac; in Hot Tub, when challenging Clara to a fight, he wanted to have sex with Clara's skull before turning it into a birdhouse. In Requiem for a Reality Show, he had sex with the carcass of a chicken before Toot regurgitated them both.

Ling-Ling's race is Asian, but it is never stated explicitly what his particular ethnicity is. Many online sources state he is Japanese, but this is not official. Japanese is most commonly indicated, but there are hints of Chinese ancestry as well, such as constant references to fortune cookies, Chinese food, and dry cleaning (although these references are based more on Chinese stereotypes than actual Chinese culture). While it is possible that Ling-Ling is of mixed ancestry, in all likelihood, the character's nationality is kept deliberately ambiguous to allow for a wider reach of Asian references to draw from. In Season Two, Ling-Ling takes on even more Asian stereotypes, such as being unable to drive well, always acing standardized tests, and always pronouncing the letter "L" as "R". In fact, to Ling-Ling, the other housemates look like anime characters until Wooldoor rounds out his eyes with tape. Another consequence of this procedure was that Ling-Ling could speak perfect English, at least until he took the tape off and reverted back to his old self.

Like Kenny McCormick of South Park, Ling-Ling has the misfortune of getting killed off in a number of episodes (see also List of Ling-Ling deaths). To further the connection, Ling-Ling's orange fur is reminiscent of the orange coat Kenny always wears on South Park.

His father mentions their house as the "Ling family;" it is unsure, however, if Ling-Ling is the character's full name or just his personal name; if the latter, his full name would probably be Ling Ling-Ling (following the custom in most Asian countries of putting the surname first).

Foxxy Love

Voiced by Cree Summer.

File:Foxxylove.JPG
Foxxy Shaquafa Love.

Foxxy Love is a sassy and promiscuous mystery-solving musician, a spoof on Valerie from Josie and the Pussycats. Her name is not just a reference to her status as a sex symbol; she is quite literally a fox girl, with ears and a tail to match. Ostensibly, this was inspired by the Pussycats' cat costumes, but it also possesses elements of similarity with the catgirl, a common character in anime and manga (the foxgirl is a variation on this). Her fox ears are clearly part of her hat; her fox tail is slightly more ambiguous. Though the animators sometimes blur the line of reality and make it appear that the tail is real (most prominently in Season Two's Little Orphan Hero), the tail appears to be just part of her costume as well, since she is seen without it on numerous other occasions, in both Season One and Season Two. In 1984, she and her band, the Foxxy 5, had a hit with their single "La-la-la-la Labia" before they disbanded three weeks later because of the group's bitter infighting.

Foxxy is bisexual, though her activities on the show indicate a leaning toward lesbianism (as evidenced by her relationship with Clara and her bandmates). She has a crush on Star Wars character Lando Calrissian, and in Requiem for a Reality Show, she has a short-lived BDSM relationship with Captain Hero. Foxxy often hints at a deranged relationship with her father, with elements of abandonment and possibly incest. There are also hints that she's had several abortions; in fact, the episode The Lemon-AIDS Walk reveals that she saves money in a jar for that specific purpose. She has had at least two children named Quanetta and Ray-Ray taken away from her by Child Services and renamed "Heather" and "Raymond-Raymond." She has a son named Timmy who has become the subject of a running gag on the show. In Dirty Pranking No. 2, she mentions having to sell Timmy on the black market, though later, in A Tale of Two Cows, she indicates that she shot him because it appeared he had rabies and was foaming at the mouth when in reality he was just brushing his teeth. In most cases, the show just plays a clip of a tearful Foxxy saying, "Oh, little Timmy, Mommy misses you," and leaves the details to be worked out from the context of the clip (which becomes progressively more random with each use). The child's actual fate has not been clearly established.

In Season One and the first few shows of Season Two, she was the character who received the most airtime, though as Season Two has progressed, she has been surpassed in this regard by Captain Hero. Her middle name has been written as "Shaquafa" in Captain Hero's Marriage Pact, though it was pronounced more like "Shaquafafa" in Foxxy vs. the Board of Education. She has an extremely elaborate masturbation ritual which involves heavy use of props, such as a lightsaber. When she masturbates, her orgasms become fiery explosions. Starting in Season Two, her character design was tweaked so now her nipples are always sticking out (in the first season they stuck out only when she was excited) when she is in her usual outfit - most likely a fanservice. She also has revealed that her taint is made of bacon, and in the confessional scenes her age is revealed to be 23. (However, this would make her about one year old at the time "La-la-la-la Labia" supposedly came out, so one or both of these facts can probably be assumed to be just a joke.)

Her relationship with Princess Clara is extremely complex. She is repulsed by Clara's racism, but doesn't hate her, acknowledging that it's not really Clara's fault. However, that hasn't stopped them from fighting viciously on occasion. In spite of this she seems to consider Clara a good friend, as evidenced by the episode Clara's Dirty Little Secret, when she went to great lengths to protect her from the violent intentions of the other housemates. The two also seem to possess a strong sexual attraction to one another; they make out three times in the pilot episode, and in Ghostesses in the Slot Machine they make out while simulating lesbian sex on stage.

Foxxy largely serves as a vehicle to make fun of black stereotypes, such as being sexually promiscuous, spending money foolishly on frivolous luxury items and lottery tickets, and being unable to speak "proper" English. She frequently refers to herself in the third person. Despite her role as the "Sassy, Trouble-Causing Black Woman" on reality TV shows, Foxxy ironically acts as the voice of reason on many episodes, a role seemingly inherited from her prototype Valerie Brown. This may only be a relative factor, as the other characters tend to be less stable than their reality TV counterparts. She is arguably the most intelligent of the housemates, and acts as the unofficial leader of the group.

Spanky Ham

Voiced by Adam Carolla.

File:Spankyham.jpg
Spanky Ham.

Spanky is a horny, crude pig (literally) with few social skills, who is a parody of the immature characters found on bad internet flash movies. He is 31, takes great pleasure in his own bodily functions (and according to A Tale of Two Cows, those of others), and is frequently seen looking at pornography. When he overtans himself, he resembles bacon. A first season episode plus website information reveals that Spanky is a Sunni Muslim (which, in addition to serving as the punchline to a 9/11 joke in that episode, may be an in-joke itself, as Islam considers pigs to be especially unclean creatures that are to be avoided). The cartoon character is, in his "life" away from the show, an animated barker who inhabits an internet porn site, introducing the viewer to the various wares available. The episode Xandir and Tim, Sitting in a Tree reveals that he has a wife and son who live in a house in the suburbs. His catchphrase is, "Nothing can possibly go wrong!", which he always utters right before disaster strikes.

He is greedy and sleazy, and always eager to exploit the other characters for his personal gain. He is crudely animated and appears to be somewhat visually based on the South Park, Retarded Animal Babies, and killfrog.com characters. He also sometimes serves as a parody of porn star Ron Jeremy complete with a gigantic penis (uncensored only on the DVD, where it is revealed to be coiled much like his tail), who was featured in the reality show The Surreal Life. Though, like most of the other characters on the show, he has exhibited signs of being bisexual (he participates in a game of "spin the bottle" with other male houseguests), he seems to be predominantly straight. At the end of season one, he became involved with Clara; their relationship has not been referred to in season 2, however, indicating that most likely it is no longer current. He also once entered into a gay marriage with Xandir for free health insurance, but was unable to force himself to have sex with Xandir, which nearly prevented him from getting the insurance.

During the first few episodes of the series, Spanky was depicted as a villain, committing such horrible deeds as making a slave out of Ling-Ling in Gay Bash, and forcing Wooldoor to trick Clara into singing in Requiem For a Reality Show so he could kill and eat all the woodland creatures that inexplicably appeared whenever she did so. However, after bonding with Clara in Dirty Pranking No. 2, he would quickly become more sympathetic. Though he bullies Wooldoor and makes fun of Xandir, his behavior in this regard is more mischievous than malicious.

Though Spanky is seldom the focal point of a story, he doesn't hurt for screen time. Sometimes, he remains in the background and wryly comments or jokes about the situation, but often, he provides a valuable supporting role in stories and scenes. Despite his lewd, crass nature, he is actually one of the group's most reliable members, always willing to come to the aid of the other houseguests when one of them faces a crisis of some sort. At times, he displays surprising sensitivity; in addition to having taught special ed classes (about which he makes a special point to tell the housemates that "those kids try hard"), he regularly attends the Special Olympics, and is senstitive to the plight of the Native Americans. He has also served as the voice of reason on a few occasions, such as when he gave advice to Foxxy in Captain Hero's Marriage Pact or came to Clara's defense in Clum Babies. In Terms of Endearment, he makes a moving speech to Mickey M**** that people shouldn't try to erase history just because it doesn't paint the picture of humanity that we would like it to. In Xandir and Tim, Sitting in a Tree, Spanky is the one who rallies the housemates after they receive a bad review from Entertainment Weekly, and he also delivers the episode's lesson about the nature of criticism.

Xandir

Voiced by Jack Plotnick.

File:Xandir.jpg
Xandir P. Wifflebottom.

Xandir is 19 years old and represents the stereotypical token gay participant selected to appear in reality television. He is primarily based on Link from The Legend of Zelda, but also borrows attributes from many other video game heroes. Xandir's character also mocks the use of overly feminine and beautiful male characters in videogames, most notably in role-playing games (an example being the character of Vaan from Square-Enix's upcoming Final Fantasy game Final Fantasy XII). Xandir's costume is also a further reference to video games that feature characters wearing exotic and revealing pieces of wardrobe. Despite the fact that in other forms of fiction, these qualities are associated with gay men (as they are here with Xandir), little to no actual video game characters are gay. In the first episode, Xandir valiantly proclaimed, "I'm on a never-ending quest to save my girlfriend!" The girlfriend is a spoof of the eponymous Princess Zelda from The Legend of Zelda. Though he is wholly devoted to her, it is apparently more out of a sense of blind obligation rather than any sort of actual love or desire for her. After he comes out of the closet in episode three, she breaks up with him. Xandir tries to commit suicide, but finds a new purpose in life when he falls in love with a gay genie in a magic lamp; after the genie is kidnapped by Xandir's nemesis, Lord Slashstab (a parody of Dungeons and Dragons villain Venger), Xandir declares that he is now on a neverending quest to save his boyfriend. The genie is seen again in the second episode of Season 2, where he is one of the guests at Xandir's marriage of convenience, implying that he and Xandir are no longer an item; however, by this point, Xandir has come fully to terms with his sexuality, and no longer needs a stable partner to feel fulfilled as a person. Indeed, in the episodes Captain Girl and Xandir and Tim, Sitting in a Tree, it is heavily implied and revealed that he has had a lot of gay sex since coming out -- particularly with Captain Hero's alter-ego "Tim Tommerson" and a closeted fellow named Craig.

Girlfriend aside, he is one of the only houseguests who has not been implied to be bisexual, being fully and joyfully gay once he comes out of the closet (though he did once, as he puts it, "toss Toot a mercy fuck"). He shares his room in the house with Captain Hero, with whom he shares a friendship and many pseudo-sexual discussions -- and sometimes more. It is implied that Xandir and Captain Hero have romantic feelings for each other, but Hero's refusal to acknowledge his gay side prevents them from having an actual relationship. Xandir is prone to going hysterical when upset, has numerous extra lives (millions in total, suggesting that he is essentially immortal; in Gay Bash, he kills himself 49 times in a single night), and is left-handed. He implies that he has a very strained relationship with his father in Terms of Endearment, though he has since come out to his parents, as evidenced in A Very Special Drawn Together Afterschool Special, despite the fact that it was already very obvious to them.

Xandir serves as a vehicle to poke fun at gay stereotypes. He enjoys knitting, sewing, reading romance novels, and attending ice shows. He also subscribes to the magazines Cosmopolitan, Tiger Beat, and Dude'z Health. His special video game move is the "reach-around", which he demonstrates to a nonplussed Scorpion from Mortal Kombat. Many of his sexual interests border on the perverse, as he is an aficionado of glory holing, BDSM, role play, and even gerbilling. When advising Toot on how to lose weight, Xandir inserts his sword down his throat, much like a sword swallower would. He then notes that he no longer has much of a gag reflex, alluding to his being accustomed to oral sex. It has also been revealed that during anal sex, he is accustomed to being the "active" partner. In season one's Hot Tub, we see that both of his nipples are pierced, and he wears nail polish in season two. In Ghostesses in the Slot Machine, he wears makeup, lipstick, and a pink bikini while performing a male strip show in an attempt to seduce The King (who believes Xandir is a woman). He is the most sensitive and the most emotional of the houseguests (though in Season Two, Captain Hero begins to give him some competition in this regard), traits which are based on another gay stereotype.

Toot Braunstein

Voiced by Tara Strong.

File:Tootdrawntogether.jpg
Toot Braunstein.

She is a feisty black & white former sex symbol who had her glory days in the 1920s; though the confessional captions give her age as 22 years old, her character's real age has been implied through her cellulite-ridden buttocks and hips, liver spots, distended labia, and breasts which sag to her knees. She is a spoof of Betty Boop and Helen Kane (the woman on whom Betty Boop is based). She is a manic depressive who copes with life through alcoholism, binge eating, and self mutilation. The episode The Other Cousin suggests that she is a hermaphrodite. She and Xandir licked Ling-Ling many times to get the buzz like before but got aroused. Xandir's penis was erect and Toot had an erect penis also. Gluttonous as she is as a result of her binge eating, Toot is known for eating indigestible objects, such as a TV and a cell phone, consuming large amounts of food in one sitting, and on occasion resorting to cannibalism by eating island virgins and Strawberry Sweetcake in The One Wherein There Is a Big Twist- Part II, and eating and passing Wooldoor in Captain Girl.

In the first episode, she had a crush on Xandir, but her affections were refuted. When it was revealed that he was gay, she comforted herself by saying that was the only reason why he didn't want to go out with her, until Wooldoor told her that "nobody likes fat chicks". Possibly due to this, Toot then became the show's designated "bitch," intentionally trying to cause friction amongst the houseguests by doing such things as convincing Clara that she is pregnant with Foxxy's child, eating all the food in the house, and lying to Super Nanny in order to get Captain Hero in trouble; she is also the first one to pull a gun in the Mexican standoff scene in The One Wherein There Is a Big Twist and spends the rest of the episode trying to get her housemates to help her blow up the house. She legitimately cannot understand why men are not attracted to her, and has developed a distinct bitterness because of it.

She is upset when other characters are getting a lot of attention; in fact, Toot is the character who had the least screen time in the first season, though it's unknown whether Toot's complaint resulted from the writers' lack of storylines/scenes for her, or if this was done intentionally as a plot device. She seems jealous of Princess Clara in particular, although this is most likely an in-joke in that both characters are voiced by the same person. Clara claims that Toot is a one-joke character, that joke being how fat she is. In truth, Toot's unstable emotional state (she has a strong tendency to go psychotic at the slightest of provocation) is the source of just as much humor on the show, if not more. She frequently uses her own name as an expletive. (i.e. "These competitions are bull-toot!")

Recent episodes have begun to explore Toot's character in more depth. In Captain Girl, she makes an effort to get over her depression by adopting a Nicaraguan baby, though the experience turns out to be a miserable failure. In A Tale of Two Cows, her attempts to win Xandir's heart by using a video game cheat manual once again end in failure. However, though Xandir admits that he wouldn't be attracted to her even if he weren't gay, he does tell her that he has a certain fondness for her and considers her a friend whom he truly cares about. This knowledge seems to satisfy her, in addition to the fact that -- much to her joy and his revulsion -- she also manages to get two rounds of pity sex out of Xandir.

Toot is also an unlucky character much like Ling-Ling, in that she has also been killed off in a number of episodes. (see also List of Toot Braunstein deaths) One key difference is that many of her misfortunes are self-inflicted. A running gag involves the other characters making fun of her for being overweight. In A Tale of Two Cows, she is a target for ridicule at her fat camp, ironically, for not being fat enough. Also, in that episode, when Wooldoor is sobbing over the loss of Live Action Cow in the beginning of the episode, he says, "Everywhere I look, there was something to remind me of her." And Toot runs into his doorway and does her camp dance, holding up her shirt her breasts jiggling back and forth. Except on the occasions when she balloons up, Toot is not actually obese; she just isn't svelte like her fellow female housemates (though as a joke, she is animated to look heavier when she is wearing little or no clothing- possibly her outfit contains a corset). The fat jokes are as much a satire on the fickle beauty standards of society as they are on Toot herself.

According to a statement by Tara Strong, Toot is her favorite role in the series.

Wooldoor Sockbat

Voiced by James Arnold Taylor.

File:Wooldoorsockbat.jpg
Wooldoor Jebediah Sockbat.

Wooldoor Sockbat is a spoof of wacky children's show characters, with Spongebob Squarepants and Looney Tunes being particular influences. He is capable of morphing into many different things, and hides objects in his rear end in order to pull them out later for comic effect. He can also split himself in two; ironically, the second Wooldoor who appears in these situations is cold and aloof, as opposed to the real Wooldoor, who is desperate to be everybody's friend. In Season Two we learn that most of his people, the Sockbats, were murdered in a Holocaust perpetuated by the Sweetcake people (themselves parodies of Strawberry Shortcake), who turned to eating the Sockbats as a remedy for an economic crisis. He was once married to his buttocks, but they separated after the baby (a piece of feces) didn't look like him. He is briefly engaged to Captain Hero's old girlfriend, Unusually Flexible Girl, but the engagement is broken off after Wooldoor decides he only wanted her because he thought Captain Hero wanted her (which he didn't), and it comes to a permanent end when Toot and Clara accidentally kill her with a potato gun.

Arguably, he is the only character not given a definite personality, with his character mainly serving as a wacky "filler" to provide whatever the scene requires when there isn't a natural fit for the role among the other houseguests. Wooldoor is generally the one called upon whenever a professional of some sort is needed; He is a professor in The Other Cousin, a psychiatrist in Little Orphan Hero, a surgeon and mad scientist in Terms of Endearment, a surgeon again in Alzheimer's That Ends Well, and a regular medical doctor in Super Nanny. Wooldoor is often shown as a minister or priest; in fact, he is the one who performs Spanky's gay marriage to Xandir.

Wooldoor is the most innocent of the characters, remaining somewhat oblivious to the depravity and chaos around him. Because of this, he is perhaps the most kind-hearted of the housemates (though he is capable of insulting the other housemates- particularly Toot- without realizing it). On the downside, he is rather gullible and prone to being pushed around by the other characters (Spanky Ham in particular bullies him relentlessly). Wooldoor idolizes Captain Hero, and in Captain Girl, he has a dream come true when he is given the job of Hero's sidekick.

He behaves very much like a hyperactive child. This may in fact be the case; he is shown reaching puberty in Clum Babies, indicating that he is not yet an adult. (His birth is given in The One Wherein There Is a Big Twist- Part II as being in the year 5753. Assuming this is based on the Hebrew calendar---the only mainstream system which makes sense, and which fits in with the Sockbat/Jewish analogy of the episode---this would make him about thirteen as of 2005). His catchphrase is simply, "Wheeeeeeeeeee!!!"

When he masturbates, his semen comes out of his mouth in the form of "clum babies," giant anthropomorphic sperm that cure the diseases of anything they touch. When Clara had the consumption, in a bittersweet irony, her life was saved by Wooldoor's clum baby, although she had spent the entire episode condemning masturbation. At the end of the episode, Wooldoor presumably uses his clum babies to bring the rest of the houseguests back to life when he is the sole survivor of a shooting spree perpetuated by guest character Bob the Cucumber, who snaps when Foxxy and Spanky suggest that the Bible is open to interpretation. The Sockbat comparison to WWII-era Jews mentioned above has led many to believe that Wooldoor is Jewish, but the episodes Clum Babies and A Tale of Two Cows reveal that Wooldoor, like Clara, is Christian.

It is revealed in Captain Girl that Wooldoor has fake breasts (and green nipples), which helped him win the Miss Universe Pageant in 1997.

Recently Wooldoor has shown a much more sinister side. In Captain Girl, he hijacks an old man's car, threatening him with a gun and telling to get out of the car and into the trunk, and then shooting at him when he tries to flee. When Wooldoor gets inside the car, he discovers the man's three grandchildren inside, who are presumably killed when Wooldoor later jumps out of speeding vehicle with them still inside. In A Tale of Two Cows, Wooldoor accidentally kills a trucker, then guts him and wears his carcass as a skin in order to deliver a message to the man's family. In both cases, Wooldoor is completely unaware of the heinous nature of his deeds, but they do demonstrate how Wooldoor can display a darker side when he is provoked.

While Wooldoor played minor parts in the first season of the show, he has become the focus of several episodes in the second season, not unlike Captain Hero. Typically, the stories focusing on Wooldoor cast him in a child-type role, such as when he brings home a cow in A Tale of Two Cows or gets in trouble at the mall for stealing candy in The Lemon-AIDS Walk. Ironically, in A Very Special Drawn Together Afterschool Special his character in the episode's role-playing exercise is that of a pedophile.

Recurring Characters

Some recurring characters who do not live in the Drawn Together house include:

  • The Jew Producer
    • Voiced by James Arnold Taylor. Also known as "Mr. Jew Producer." He looks like a man in a suit, except with a speaker where his head should be; possibly a cyborg. He is in charge of the reality show, and owns the house. He calls the housemates to inform them of the reality show challenges and can be contacted when they need him; he also communicates with the housemates through notes delivered by Wooldoor. In The One Wherein There Is a Big Twist, he disguised himself as Bucky Bucks to give the housemates the challenge they wanted. In The One Wherein There Is a Big Twist: Part 2, he made the housemates bow down to his penis in a game of Simon Says to allow them to return to the newly rebuilt house after they destroyed it. He would appear to be the in-show alter-ego of creators Dave Jeser and Matt Silverstein, both of whom are also Jewish.
  • Bleh
    • Voiced by Sarah Silverman. Bleh is Clara's mentally challenged cousin, her condition being the result of her mother drinking while she was pregnant. She has to wear a football helmet to protect her head, her eyes are crossed, and she possesses a severe overbite, but her body below the neck is near perfect. Her speech consists almost solely of blurbs taken from critical reviews of the film I Am Sam; she makes a harsh braying sound when excited or distressed, and is prone to drooling. She sleeps in a pet carrier, and had a short-lived relationship with Captain Hero, with neither of them realizing that the other entered into the relationship to win a bet. She possesses the ability to count cards, as evidenced in Ghostesses in the Slot Machine; this ability may have been derived from Dustin Hoffman's character in Rain Man.
  • Ling-Ling's Father
    • Voiced by Jess Harnell. Ling-Ling's father made a brief debut in The Other Cousin. He later appeared in the form of an answering machine message in Clum Babies, where he informed Ling-Ling of the arranged battle to Ni-Pul. In "The Other Cousin," he spoke in Ling-Ling's language, but in "Clum Babies," he speaks English. He used to be a great battle monster like Ling-Ling, but eventually retired and started a dry cleaning business. Although it has not been revealed on the show, the character's name, according to Jeser and Silverstein, is Jun-Jee (named after Jun Song and Jee Choe from Big Brother IV).

      Princess Clara's father, the King.
  • The King
  • The Sockbats
    • The Sockbats are Wooldoor's people, who were wiped out in a holocaust by the Sweetcakes, who ate the Sockbats in the midst of a famine and ever since have been obsessed with cooking and eating Sockbats. Since that time, they have become proficient in making pornography. It is unknown how many Sockbats are still around, but certainly most (if not all) of Wooldoor's immediate family are now deceased. Often, as a joke, Sockbats will be inserted into the backgrounds of certain scenes (usually those taking place away from the house) as extras.
  • Edward Goldberg
  • The KFCC

Significant Guest Characters

Some other characters who have appeared in only one episode but play a significant role in the series include:

  • Xandir's Girlfriend
    • Only appearing in Gay Bash, she was Xandir's girlfriend before he came out of the closet. The evil Lord Slashstab used to capture her for no reason. She seems to be a terrible homophobe. She wouldn't allow Xandir to rescue her after he left the closet. She was last seen being lowered into a pit of megacobras in Lord Slashstab's castle. She has not been mentioned since this occurred, and most likely is dead. One of her closest friends was Ms. Pac-Man.
      File:Sweetcake.PNG
      Strawberry Sweetcake
  • Strawberry Sweetcake
    • Only appearing in The One Wherein There Is a Big Twist: Part 2, Strawberry Sweetcake, a parody of the Strawberry Shortcake dolls, became a new housemate when it appeared Wooldoor was dead (though he wasn't). Her people, the Sweetcakes, used to peacefully live with Wooldoor's people, the Sockbats. After a while, a great famine swept the lands. The Sweetcakes tagged the innocent Sockbats and fooled them into manual labor. Eventually, they turned the Sockbats into chocolate. Strawberry Sweetcake attempted to do the same to Wooldoor, but her plan was exposed by Foxxy. After threatening the housemates with violence if they got in her way, Sweetcake ended up being eaten by Toot.
  • Unusually Flexible Girl
    • Only appearing in Captain Hero's Marriage Pact, Unusually Flexible Girl used to be Captain Hero's girlfriend back in Superhero University. Back then, they made a pact to get married if they were both still single by the time they both turned thirty years old. Fearing that UFG was crazy and delusional, Hero called the wedding off. Desperate not to die alone, she agreed to marry Wooldoor. She casts Wooldoor aside when she realizes Hero wants her again, but finally Wooldoor and Captain Hero decide that neither of them really wants her. UFG realizes how mean they have been to her and becomes hysterical. While Wooldoor and Hero try to calm her down, Toot and Clara, who were building a potato gun, accidently shoot UFG in the face, killing her. Wooldoor and Captain Hero, both holding one of her hands, realize that her worst fear was avoided: she didn't die alone. UFG's mother's name is Unusually Jewish Woman.
  • Bob the Cucumber
    File:Ufg.jpg
    Unusually Flexible Girl
    • Only appearing in Clum Babies, Bob and his associate Larry the Tomato are members of the VeggieFables (parodies of the VeggieTales), a group of Christian vegetables who create religious propaganda clumsily disguised as children's entertainment. An insane religious fanatic, Bob snaps after being told that the Bible is flexible and open to interpretation, and goes on a killing spree which wipes out the entire cast except for Wooldoor. After Wooldoor's clum baby cures Bob of his psychosis, Bob kills himself in remorse.
  • Super Nanny
    • Only appearing in Super Nanny, the British Super Nanny is a strict disciplinarian with the power to make anyone behave themselves by threatening to send them to the naughty stool as punishment. She uses an army of super-disciplined children to try to take over the White House, but after she is foiled by Captain Hero, the children turn against her, and tear her to shreds.
