Rock Bridge High School is a high school in Columbia, Missouri. It houses grades 10–12. The school is a part of Columbia Public Schools. It was opened in 1973 with 583 students. During the 19992000 school year, when the enrollment stood at 1,077, a large new wing opened. In the 20042005 school year it had an enrollment of almost 1,600 students. The other High School In Columbia, Hickman High School, is larger with over 2,000 students enrolled. Most students have one Alternating Unassigned Time, referred to as AUT, with seniors often having more than one. During AUT, students are allowed to go the library and computer labs, seek help from teachers, or, with parental permission, leave campus. Just recently, a new administration that has been installed in Rock Bridge that features a new principle, Dr. Andy Kohl, has created a more stern and strict atmosphere at the school. This has provoked rumors of the dismissal of the traditional AUT program, block scheduling, and tighter policies on students in the hallway.
