Ghotki is a city Sindh province. On July 13, 2005, a collision of three passenger trains near the city resulted in the deaths of over 120 people.

ghotki is the district in sindh.It falls on the left bank on River Indus. It is surrounded on north by River Indus and district of Jacobabad,on east by the punjab,on south by the India(Rajisthan)and west by the district sukkur.It is spread over an area of 6,975 sq kmsor 15,55,528.00 acres. Ghotki is the broken form of word Ghotay ki means belonging to Ghota(a tribe residing at ghotki).Ghota tribe originates from Ghot ibn SAmad ibn patel a hindu born to son of Raja Dahar (last hindu ruler of sindh)was setled here .when Islam entered in south Asia through Sindh by Mohammad Bin Qasim ghot happily and volutarily embraced Islam on the handsa of Arabs and married to a new Muslims Emna according to shariat-e- Mohammadi and gave birth to a baby boy tameer from whom ghota tribe came in to being.Arabs awarded many jagirs to ghotas and named this village as (DHARWALI)to honour their grand father.dharwali changed into ghotayki on 25th of Rajab in 923 year of Hijra (1517 A.D). Ghotayki village developed into a ghotayki town during the days of Sayed Nahra Shah great grand son of JamalShah who was the son of Sayed Mubarak shah Baghdadi.Ghotas gave their properties to sayeds and they settled in the villages outside the town. Four noble men namely Hussain Khan,Qasim Khan,Raham Ali Khanand and Odhar khan named ghotayki to Loe-e-Sahiban Qadirya inorder to honour the Sayeds. In 1843 British annexed Sindh .In 1887 Sir Charles Napier, an english genral who had annexed Sindh came to Ghotayki(which was called Ghotki).impreesed by his elegance and regality,citizens of Ghotki both hindus and muslims paid courtesy call to him with presents. Sayed Saleh Mohammad Shah alias Moula Rakhiyo did not come to see him which eraged the Britishers who cancelled all jagirs of Sayeds and changed the name of town from Lo-e-Sahiban qadiriya to Ghotki which still continues.Before 1993 ghotki was the part of Sukkur district but on 17 april 1993 ghotki was itself made district.
