(full)

Vivísimo is a technological company. It is settled in Pittsburgh and built on unique web search technology developed by Carnegie Mellon University researchers.

Vivísimo's technology works with Clusty, a clustering metasearch engine.

History

Vivísimo[1] is a searcher programm created by Carnegie Mellon University[2] research computer scientists in June, 2000. It was made to be a useful search page and it is based in Pittsburgh[3], USA. The name Vivísimo comes from Spanish language and means "bright, lively, and intelligent".

The technology used by Vivísimo is an advanced document clustering technology. The enterprise has made some software products: Vivísimo Clustering Engine, Vivísimo Content Integrator and Vivísimo Velocity[4]. The plan has different supporters such as Innovation Works[5] and The National Science Foundation[6], but it is supported by some private investors as well. The customers of the products Vivísimo offers go from government agencies to pharma companies and publishers.

Vivísimo stimulates the search experience by making it far more personalized, intuitive, and intelligent. Its mission is to create an innovative software to access and cluster the world's information for better search and discovery. Because of this way of searching, this "six-year-old" searcher offers us a helpful and easy way to find information we are looking for; and because of this cluster way of searching users can find information more quickly, learn the types of available information at a glance, and uncover results that would otherwise be missed. This searcher web is dedicated to solve the information overload problem that hapens when users have thousands of results returned by a web or enterprise search by categorizing search results, making them far more useful and fast.

In October 2005 Vivísimo was awarded the contract to power the search portion of FirstGov[7], the web of the government of the United States of America[8].

Usage

Vivísimo is used in order to solve the information and the problems that occurs when users face thousands of results returned by a web or enterprise search by categorizing search results, making them far more meaningful, useful, and actionable. It helps the user and at the same time makes the work easier and faster in a correct way.

At the time of searching information, Vivísimo has two options to find it :

-On the one hand, for searching the web; in which this system offers Clusty [9], that is a very useful and powered tool dedicated search tools for the most popular search sources such as news, shopping, blogs, gossip, images, and the Wikipedia.

-And on the other hand, for enterprises;in which Vivísimo offers a unique solution but very satisfactory in the most of the cases.

This system provides very useful information, solves the problems as it is designed in a very special way: Vivísimo is a personalizated system which provides more specific information than other browsers like Google[10] or Yahoo[11] and it makes it special. Moreover it is fully automated, "requires no maintenance, and achieves high-quality results".
