"Unfaithful"
Song

"Unfaithful" is the second single from Rihanna's sophomore album A Girl Like Me. This was the first ballad to be released by Rihanna, as all her songs previous to this were uptempo. Clips from the music video were used in a promo for the album, along with the song. The video premiered on Total Request Live on May 1, 2006 and launched itself to #1 on May 25.

The song is a haunting take on a woman who is in a relationship with a man but is seeing someone else on the side. The woman begins to realize that her partner is well aware that she is having an affair and it is hurting him badly, so she begins to regret her affair. The song is also a homage to classic R&B songs.

The week ending June 17th, 2006 on the Billboard Hot 100, Unfaithful surged into the top 10 due to its impressive increase in downloads and already impressive top 10 airplay according to Mediabase. This gave Rihanna two singles within the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time.

In the version of the song played on some radio stations (including New York's Z-100), the word "gun" in the bridge is bleeped out.
