On Fire! is the eleventh studio release of the legendary Christian Rock band, Petra. While still with Star Song Records, the band switched their producers from Jonathan David Brown to Dino and John Elefante.

The songs of this album are in the Hard Rock category, similar to the works of ACDC. The lyrics continue the same subject of spiritual warfare featured in their previous efforts with lots of metaphors making reference to militar subtexts ("Mine Field", "Defector")
This is the first album to feature Ronny Cates on bass who will remain with the band until 1995.
