The Skjold-Class is a new, modern design for a superfast missile boat, called MTB (missile-torpedo-boat). This design is completely Norwegian and is so ground-breaking that even the US Navy has noted it's interest and has inspected the design. It is at this time the fastest warship in the world. The Skjold-Class will be added to the pool of "old" Hauk-Class MTBs. Six Skjold-Class MTBs are at the drawing table. At this time, only the lead ship, P960 HNoMS Skjold has been built to test the design. The new boats are scheduled to be completed by 2010.
