Logo
Well, the puzzle map was created using The GIMP and the sphere was rendered using POV-Ray. Post-processing, glyph rendering, and logotype rendering was done in Photoshop. See also meta:Logo history for the checkered history of the logo. Welcome to Wikipedia btw. :-) Nohat 07:15, 5 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Welcome
Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- How to edit a page
- Editing, policy, conduct, and structure tutorial
- Picture tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Naming conventions
- Manual of Style
- If you're ready for the complete list of Wikipedia documentation, there's also Wikipedia:Topical index.
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my Talk page. Again, welcome!
There are a few other things you need to know. The images you have added to Lake Zurich, Illinois, Google and others all need image copyright tags. This is so we know that we can legally use the pictures. This is a more serious issue for the high school article. The Google article's pics can be tagged with {{logo}} or {{fairuse}}. I don't know what license you can get the highschool pics on. I'd like to complement you on the work you did on the List of Google services and tools, quite well done. As to the high school article, I'd watch your back there is some anti-school sentiment here on wikipedia. Try to emphisize the school's notability to avoid trouble on votes for deletion. Cheers! - To use the picture on wikipedia you have to get your friend to release the picture (did he also take the pictures of the teachers?) to the GNU Free Documentation License or the public domain or one the other supported coyrights. Then you may tage the image as such ({{GFDL}} or {{PD}} or any other aproved tag) along with an explanation. Remember the Google images (and firefox image) you uploaded also must be tagged as I described above (first post not this one). Sorry for all of the red tape. BrokenSegue 22:15, 5 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- If you don't think you can use those teacher pics tag them with {{db|creator requests deletion}} and an admin will delete them. BrokenSegue 22:24, 5 Mar 2005 (UTC)
When was your school founded?
Hey. We (LukeSurl,Drw25) are trialling a new Template on your school (hopefully saving it from deletion) and for completeness we would need to know when it was founded. Thankyou. LukeSurl 15:26, 12 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- No clue. I co-run the student-run school website and we were planning on linking to the Wikipedia article so that the students who knew more information could add it.
- I just figured it out. The school was founded in 1929. --mathwizxp 18:11, 13 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks. I think I should warn you that if your school's page is not improved in the very near future I believe the deletionists will have their way with the site. It is very difficult to do this without being a member of the school so I would suggest that if you want to save the article you should update using your personal expertise as a pupil.--LukeSurl 22:33, 13 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Image Tagging Image:Aaroncarter3.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Aaroncarter3.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Dakota t e 21:22, 16 November 2005 (UTC)
