With The Good, the Bad and the Ugly the most successful practitioner of the spaghetti Western, Sergio Leone, completed his Dollar Trilogy. The earlier films were A Fistfull of Dollars and For a Few Dollars More.

Magnificent, massive and sprawling, the original title of the movie shot in 1966 is Il Buono, il brutto, il cattivo. It stars Clint Eastwood (the Good), Lee Van Cleef (the Bad) and Eli Wallach (the Ugly). The film is set in the tail end of the American Civil War and details a race to capture some buried gold.
