The Kodiak Bear (Ursus arctos middendoriffi), or Alaskan Brown Bear, is a subspecies of the Brown Bear. The Kodiak Bear lives in southern Alaska, and is endangered. Kodiak Bears can grow to be 10.5 feet long and can weigh up to 900 lbs, and can eat just about anything in Alaska. When Kodiak Bears reproduce, the litters average about 3-6 cubs. The bears have a light-brown strip from the throat to their stomach. Unlike some bears, the Kodiak Bear does not live in caves.
