London King's Cross railway station
London King's Cross railway station is a passenger railway terminus in the London Borough of Camden, on the edge of Central London. It is in the London station group, one of the busiest railway stations in the United Kingdom, and the southern terminus of the East Coast Main Line to Yorkshire and the Humber, North East England and Scotland. The station was opened in King's Cross in 1852 by the Great Northern Railway, and has been expanded and redeveloped several times since. This panoramic photograph shows the western departures concourse of King's Cross station, which was designed by John McAslan and opened in March 2012 as part of a major renovation project. McAslan said that the roof was the longest single-span station structure in Europe; the semi-circular structure has a radius of 59 yards (54 metres) and more than 2,000 triangular roof panels, half of which are glass.Photograph credit: Colin

Help

Andrew Thank you for your quick response.

Wow

Ok that is why the IP IS shared since it is a school. --Wicked595 15:34, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please stop deleting my user sub-pages

I know your intentions are well, but it's becoming a pain in the ass.

Could you please restore the pages of mine that you deleted? Thanks.

~ Flameviper 16:29, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

I thought you said you wanted a clean slate. So which ones do you want undeleted? Be careful what you wish for. --  Netsnipe  ►  16:34, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, um...I mean, it seemed like the only things you deleted were just things like my old userpage and my talk archives and stuff. I don't think it would be a big deal if people could access a few vandalism warnings on my talk page from 2 years ago. Just as long as none of the restored pages get protected, I suppose I could just put {{db-author}} on any of them and get them disposed of rather quickly...
So all in all, sure. ~ Flameviper 16:38, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Please provide links to all the pages you want restored. I can't be bothered digging through my log to find what pages you want restored. By the way, you should realise now that Wikipedia:Usurpation is only a proposed policy and it's very doubtful anyone will ever fulfil your request in the near future. --  Netsnipe  ►  16:46, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Um...I think that you deleted my user page, User:Flameviper12/old...um, there was a lot of other crap in my userspace that got deleted, but not by you. Well, anyways, thanks. ~ Flameviper 16:53, 25 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi Netsnipe, thanks for unblocking my school's IP. That vandal attacked me repeatedly, and I had to wait for over a day for an unblock. Thanks again! Cheers --Terence Ong (T | C) 06:35, 26 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for Unblock

Thanks for undoing the autoblock of 64.233.172.34--that was FAST (under 5 minutes)--much appreciated! And yes, I'm using Google web accelerator--I didn't realize this would result in a shared IP address, though I guess that makes sense.... No surprise that it belongs to the main Google campus/server farm, I'm only 50 miles away, so they'd be routing local 'net traffic through it. JDowning 14:53, 26 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hey

Wicked595 here, I was banned a few days ago for supposedly commiting repeated vandalism which I was contributing stuff to articles. What I do not get is I contributed and got banned for vandalism but psychoair does EXACTLY what I did and is thanked? Thats bulls**t. Oh and he is on the EXACT same IP for the school so dont say "there is no evidance that it is a shared IP" because that is a complete load of crap. --Wicked595 19:08, 26 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Calm down. You were never blocked. I forgot to run a WHOIS on your IP address which would have confirmed that your address was indeed a school based one so "my bad" on that part. However, I also have to point out that my refusal to lift your Wikipedia:Autoblock early was partly your fault for not having contributing more to the encyclopedic part of Wikipedia. I review about a dozen unblock cases a day (many of them of more complex than just simple vandalism). When I see crap like "WHAT ARE YOU WEARING!!??" and "FU SHAWN YOUR A DICK" on your talk page, it's a big warning sign that you're not taking Wikipedia seriously and that I didn't have to take your unblock request seriously either. And if you had looked at Psychoair's block log, I blocked him indefinitely for a few days for vandalising your userpage before I realised I had overreacted. So tell me, why are you frustrated that I thanked him when I was really thaking him for his time reading my big warning that Wikipedia is not a social networking site -- the exact same warning you got! --  Netsnipe  ►  19:27, 26 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Oooohh

Oh I see. I apologize for my rudeness. I enjoy this site. I go here at school to look up things and read about them since I have found it. I was also wondering how I could help out the site by finding vandals and such. One more thing.....how do you as well as other wikipedia moderators and admins find vandals so fast? Sorry for the social networking. Only way me and my friend talk sometimes since we have no classes together. We will stop that. Thank you for your time. --Wicked595 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Wicked595 (talkcontribs) 15:52, September 27, 2006 (UTC).

Help Needed

Well I was looking to see if there was a wikipedia page for halo3forum.com. I found there was not and decided to make it. It is now going to be deleted. So please answer me this.....why do you people say you can make the article for all the view if it is going to be deleted?

--Wicked595

See Wikipedia:Notability. Most websites are non-notable. Wikipedia has a certain notability threshold, for many reasons, mainly verifiability. Who can verify (or disverify) the fact that I'm an 65-year old woman from Modesto, California? (FYI, I'm not). But still. If you want someone to help you out with Wikipedia things, I would be glad to lend a helping hand. Just drop me a line if that's cool. ~ Flameviper 17:14, 27 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Proposal

After having so many admins help me out, I thought "Hey, this is really nice!" and so I thought of a program. Kind of like Esperanza, but waay more hip. It's called Adopt-a-User. Just wondering if it's a stroke of genius or if it's complete crap. I mean, it could use some tweaking but still, it's not set in stone. Anyway, drop me a line. ~ Flameviper 17:14, 27 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

We already have Wikipedia:Editor review and Wikipedia:Esperanza/Programs/Admin coaching if you hadn't noticed. You should introduce your idea to the Wikipedia:Village pump. --  Netsnipe  ►  17:38, 28 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hmm...It does bear a resemblance to admin coaching, but it's for new, inexperienced users instead of intermediate, skilled users. Now if they made a program for the next step up and had Jimbo school, then I would be forced to crack a smile :) ~ Flameviper 14:42, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Slander and iniquity from your team

Greetings, however bitter they may be.

Recently our team at Driftwood Entertainment has placed up an artical on James Edward Nolan, Author. We came into conflict with your team as they stated that he was not a real author, because he was published through PublishAmerica. Your representative stated that publishamerica is a vanity press, and a self publishing pay-to-publish press, and therefor J. Edward Nolan had no notable purpose or worth being in the Wikipedia pages. DE contested this matter, and has apparently lost.

We find it appalling that there are articals on cartoon characters of less standing than a human being who has actually contributed something to the art/lit. community. Simply because there's a page on this site that slanders PublishAmerica completely, slamming it at every turn it possibly can, doesn't mean that J. Edward Nolan has not accomplished something great with her own work. Book stores do in fact carry his work, and he does in fact attend book signings, and his sales are incredible. Especially for someone who does his own marketing.

The artical we wrote about J. Edward Nolan on this site, in no way attempted to sell his works, or glorify a cause. It was an informative artical on who he is, where he was born, and what he does for a living as a writer; what he has written. Stephen King has a page.

A fictitious character, made into comic form; Grand Admiral Thrawn, of the extended star wars universe, has a page.

What makes a fictitious character more notable, or more important than a real human being? This character has done nothing, or contributed nothing to society; this character has changed no lives in any way, and has done nothing to perpetuate the art community.

All that J. Edward Nolan does, ever, is try to help fellow artists, and writers. The purpose of his work is then, to push for better exposure for all artists. Who is some rep, in honalulu to decide that J. Edward Nolan is not a notable person, based off of his own opinion alone?

Notability is based on what you do, not who you do it through. If a man does good things, and does well at the good things he accomplishes, then he is a man of notable capability and accomplishment.

There are few fictitious characters in creation that can say the same. DE has taken it as a personal slam this time, as the rep who decided that J. Edward Nolan was neither important enough as a person, or worth an artical. Your representative did so in a fashion all too rude, opinionated, and controlling. The representative made remarks about J. Edward Nolan, his work, and the publisher in question without facts to back his statements, and then deleted the content.

Driftwood Entertainment is prepared to find representation for these matters, as things left the professional realm a long time ago, it seems. The information and slander spoken by your representative is assumed to be the opinion of ALL representatives on wikipedia, and has been forwarded via Email to PublishAmerica. We, at Driftwood Entertainment hope to God that something is done about this before it becomes a greater issue. We have no doubt that PublishAmerica is unaware of their artical on this site, and will be well more than livid about it. We hope we can work out an understanding, and as we asked before.

If there is something we need to add--or leave out--to make this artical on our author work, we will be happy to cooperate. We all work well in teamwork, at DE.

Driftwood Entertainment -- Bringing you Entertaining Entertainment. 22:09, 27 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

So who is this team of yours? -- RHaworth 07:29, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

User:성혀니 - and your "STOP!" outburst at fellow admins

I thought your bark Stop blocking this user! at the other admins who were simply following policy was a little uncalled for - especially the instructions I given on his talk page regarding the steps involved in getting the name change were:

As he's still editing now well after this 24 hour window was due to shut shows if anything they were following policy correctly, and perhaps you could have been a tad more civil. Just my $0.02 Glen 08:26, 28 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

This guy is a obviously an eager and productive editor. He shouldn't be punished just because there's a backlog at Wikipedia:Changing usernames in processing his already forwarded request. --  Netsnipe  ►  08:28, 28 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm... not sure how but perhaps you'd like to reread what I wrote. At no point did I say that I believed that not to be true, or that he should or shouldnt be blocked at this time. My comment was regarding your "handling" of User:Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington and User:Longhair both following policy was abrupt and uncalled for - thats all. Read it again for yourself? - not really the tone to take with teammates, you obviously see otherwise. Tomatoe/Tomartoe I guess... Glen 08:35, 28 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Dear Net:

Thanks for looking in on this one. The block must have expired, because I'm able to edit. Do I pull the request off my user page, or do I await an admin.

For future reference: How am I supposed to copy the block notice when I can't get to the code to copy it? My print screen displayed only part of the message. Your advice would be helpful if it happens again. --CTSWyneken(talk) 10:25, 28 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Could you, as an admin, give me, as an evasive permblocked user/IP who feels treated a bit unfairly, PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE(!) give your opinion as to whether or not it constitutes to harassment of a user (the stated reason for my block by user:Jayjg) to tag him as suspected SPA. The user in question is user:Jakew, I tagged him after having browsed though his contribs. PLEASE answer! 87.78.144.187 17:16, 28 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Though there are no specific guidelines or policies on the use of the {{[Template:spa|spa]]}} tag, had you read Template_talk:Spa, you would have noticed that my intentions in creating that tag were specifically for use in Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion discussions where friends, coworkers or sockpuppets are often employed in an attempt to stack "votes". Any use of spa outside this context is extremely hostile and most likely breaches WP:CIVIL in my honest opinion since you are effectively saying that this person should be ignored by others regardless of what they have to say. --  Netsnipe  ►  12:56, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Not sure what you mean as the nav template in question already is compliant with WP:COLOUR, as it uses colours listed at web colors. //Halibutt 18:00, 30 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
I was referring to the Wikimedia colour schemes listed at Wikipedia:Colours. The biggest problem is that anyone who is colour blind will not be able to read half your nav template because you've mixed dark text (blue links) with dark backgrounds (black/grey). Please only use light, neutral colours as demonstrated at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Usability/Color. Bright yellow should also be avoided as it's a glaring distraction that is sorely mismatched with Wikipedia's colour scheme. Thanks. --  Netsnipe  ►  18:25, 30 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

AOL Autoblocks/Template

Thanks for your recent attention. I archive all the autoblock stuff regularly -- I have a very long AOL archive which has proved useful in discussion with admins about the ongoing problem, and has even been referenced in sysop/programming discussions. As for your instructions about the template, I avoid templates whenever possible on general principle as I think they are ugly and actually block rather than promote communication. I am no programmer and, as I live with one, don't ever want to be a programmer. So ............huh???? What exactly do you want me to do? Some instructions in non-programmer language please or a simple pointer to the template you want me to copy would be very helpful. Thank you again for your help. WBardwin 00:19, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well, thanks for the effort but you didn't really answer the question. I understand all the perameters of the AOL autoblock issue. I've been working with administrators for months, from a users point of view, on ways we can solve the problem. But you said I was now using the wrong template. I'm sorry about that, as it has been extremely useful. Why is it wrong? and where is the right one? If there isn't a right one, I'll go back to my old habit of screaming for help from familiar admins. Or, if everyone has given up on the AOL user problems altogether, I'll edit when I can and go from there. Best wishes. WBardwin 06:32, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

The old way isn't wrong, just clumsy. MediaWiki:Blockedtext now generates the right code for you, so you don't have to copy and paste from your talk page. You can copy and paste straight from the block screen. {{unblock-auto}} lets us unblock you in seconds instead of a minute or two (per case) without us ever having to reach for the keyboard. So when you get blocked next time, just copy and paste what you see from your block message. See here for an example of it in action. Cheers --  Netsnipe  ►  06:48, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

User talk:218.188.3.113

Did you mean to remove all the copious warnings that have accumulated on this page (User talk:218.188.3.113)? I would think they should be left as indication of how much trouble this IP has caused. I was going to revert but I didn't want to mess up the current block. Dennypayne 07:49, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes I did. I regularly remove stale warnings older than 4 months for heavily used proxy servers because it needlessly adds more strain to the servers every time someone tries to read or add a warning. A block log is more than adequate for an administrator to judge how troublesome an IP is in these cases. Thanks. --  Netsnipe  ►  07:55, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Question

Ok I have been wondering. Why is this an encyclopedia that anyone can edit? I have contributed stuff I know about articals. I was then blocked for vandalism for doing so. So why allow contributions when you or another wikipedia staff blocks for it? --Wicked595 15:37, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

You've never been blocked. Your block log is actually empty. It's more likely that you were "autoblocked" because someone else on your shared IP address or proxy server vandalised instead. Please follow the instructions on the block page to request an unblock when that happens to you next time. --  Netsnipe  ►  16:53, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi Netsnipe. I'm Wikimachine, and I want to protest in defense of this anonymous user. This user has indeed participated in discussions, as shown here, but he did not sign his name. Obviously, he is new to Wikipedia & does not know many of the features and policies. But he has very strong view. Please undo his blocked status. Thank you very much. (Wikimachine 16:26, 5 October 2006 (UTC))Reply

P.S., how many administrators have reviewed his unblock request? (Wikimachine 16:26, 5 October 2006 (UTC))Reply

His/her block log shows that he/she was blocked for 24 hours on 19:31, October 2, 2006 (UTC) while his/her edits to Talk:Korea started on 21:39, October 4, 2006 (UTC) after the block expired. My observation was correct at the time of reviewing his/her block. Anyway, block log entries are permanent, so there's nothing further I can do. Might also I suggest that you encourage your friend to create an account so that you can welcome them with {{User:Kukini/Welcome}} so that they can be fully aware of Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Thanks. --  Netsnipe  ►  16:39, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

thanks.

Thanks for the unblock. - Zepheus <ツィフィアス> 18:27, 5 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks again

You have saved us again by lifing the block. You are definitly the best. I wish Wikipedia would have more of your type around here. Thanks, Coveritus

Unfortunate event

Yes, I have looked over it well. I had already stated, though, that I was not the contributor of the vandalism, so it was unnecessary to revert the page. It turns out that my friend, 07p71, has the same IP address and found my password, and thus vandalised under my name -.- Thank you anyway, though, for your concern.

Template:Infobox Celebrity

Is there a way that someone could add the fields "Birth_name" and "Alias" to the Celebrity Infobox Template, as seen in other Infobox Templates such as "Infobox musical artist"? Thank you for your time, Smeelgova 20:44, 3 October 2006 (UTC).Reply

Thank You!

Thank you for pointing out the secure Wikipedia link, the problem was resolved by my ISP however before I needed to use the secure version. --DeAceShooter 06:13, 6 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks

Hello there. Thank you for lifting the autoblock. That IP address is used by all the computers at my school and people tend to do stupid things on Wikipedia. Thanks again. Boaf 16:39, 6 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Removing autoblocks

Just curious: is there some way of lifting autoblocks I'm not aware of? I thought you had to lift the actual numbered block, as below.

06:19, October 8, 2006 Slowking Man (Talk | contribs | block) unblocked #271154 (Username autoblock (from my block))

However, you're doing this.

05:32, October 8, 2006 Netsnipe (Talk | contribs | block) unblocked 198.54.202.254 (contribs) (Autoblock of Adriaan90)

Does Mediawiki lift autoblocks on an IP if that IP's corresponding account is unblocked? If so, that'd be good to know for the future. Never thought I'd go two years as an admin while not knowing something about Mediawiki, but I guess you learn something new every day. ;) --Slowking Man 16:08, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Autoblock numbers are just masked IP addresses. That's why you need ask autoblocked people to provide you with their IP address using {{autoblock}}. As far as I know, you can unblock using either. --  Netsnipe  ►  16:31, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply
Okay, that's neat. Thanks for the help. --Slowking Man 16:48, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the unblock

thanks for the unblock!! :) But can you help me to rectify this problem because I've been repeatedly blocked for my 'ip address'. Is there such a thing as blocking ip address except for those users that have already been in wikipedia for some time and not done anything wrong? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jikbusai (talkcontribs) 16:34, October 8, 2006 (UTC)

No. There's nothing much you can do since you edit Wikipedia using the same IP with thousands of other Singaporeans on StarHub, and among those thousands, there's a lot of serial vandals on the same network. The only way to truly bypass the autoblocker is to your get your own separate IP address. If StarHub lets you, you can try disabling the use of StarHub's HTTP proxy server in your web browser. --  Netsnipe  ►  16:45, 8 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thank you
