Krill is the Norwegian word for whale food - shrimp-like marine invertebrates - part of plankton - zooplankton - most important species is the Antarctic krill (Euphausia superba), keystone species of the Antarctic ecosystem, main food organism for penguins, whales fish and birds in the Southern Ocean - in the north Atlantic Meganyctiphanes norwegica
