Excuses (as a term of jurisprudence) are a form of defense, in which a defendant argues that, at the time a crime was committed, they were not liable for their actions. Excuses include: age, diminished responsibility, duress, insanity, involuntary intoxication, mistake, provocation, and unconsciousness.
