Carry on, fat buddhaman! -Susan Mason

It is not the Buddha that carries on, but the on that carries Buddha. -◈▣◈

When you ROFL, the world ROFLs with you. -◈▣◈

Please could you add some latin characters to your sig, so we can read your name when you sign? -Tarquin

Only by tasting it may we avoid stepping in it. -◈¡◈

My browser doesn't see the chinese figures. I don't want you to quit using them, I just wanna know how I can see them. -Susan Mason

A browser that sees is like a dog that talks, the fact that it exists is more disturbing than what it has to say. -◈¡◈

One cannot visit www.netscape.com twice and still get the same thing. -Beiguo

Can one visit it once and get the same thing? -◈¡◈

Could you refrain from using words like "whitewash" to describe the work of others? That word implies an intent to mislead and downplay negative aspects of something. When it is used against a user who did not have such an intention it is likely to lead to hurt feelings. -mav

Does intent to wag lie in the tail, the dog, or the boy with the food? -◈¡◈

I'm jealous that you're BigFatBuddha and I'm not. Best wishes. -Arthur

I too am jealous that you are not BigFatBuddha. -◈¡◈

How can things change for the better if they stay the same? -◈¡◈

Why do you change between Unicode 161 (¡) and 9635 (▣) for your nose? -Geoffrey

Because Tarquin asked me to. -◈¡◈

Thanks for adding that map of Iraq. It really helps us visualize the places named in the 2003 invasion of Iraq article. -Uncle Ed

I am humbly corrected. My map does nothing to help visualize places. It only helps to visualize a map. -◈¡◈

When you're paddling down the street in your canoe, and the wheels fall off, how many pancakes does it take to make a doghouse? -Stephen Gilbert

Only one, but the pancake must be doghouse shaped to begin with. -◈¡◈

Is it the Buddha who is big and fat, or is it the Buddha's fat that is big? -Stephen Gilbert

It is not the Buddha that is BigFat, but the nature of Buddha that is BigFat. -◈¡◈

I don't think that it is a good idea for you to change other people's comments. Perhaps you should change them back. -snoyes

There are many things that should perhaps be done, but far fewer that ever will be. -◈¡◈

Oh BigFatBuddha, are not the words that I speak jewels to be treasured? -Martin

Indeed Martin, they sparkle in the light and provide wealth to the beholder. -◈¡◈

Even a corn plant growing in a corn field is a weed, if it is the wrong sort of corn. -◈¡◈

The Buddha is more man than I! -John Owens

The Man is more I than Buddha. -◈¡◈

Good work on the First Lady proposal. Sometimes we hit days and pages were you see dreadful articles and petty squabbles and feel like giving up on wiki. Then you find a gem of an article that is really being worked on professionally and in an intelligent thought-provoking manner and the wiki experience suddenly feels well worth it again!!! I am stuck in the middle of something else right now so I cannot give it the attention it needs, but I will get back to you. Well done. ÉÍREman 01:46 Apr 24, 2003 (UTC)

meditation on your question continues...

Are you removing all instances of "refers to"? -Camembert

Not all, only some, and perhaps poorly. -◈¡◈

Hi Buddha, I don't really understand why you are making so many agriculture type things into redirects. I don't really agree with the sentiment to, for example, your summary for your Biosphere III edit of Since there is nothing here,"Biosphere III" can just be a subtopic within Biosphere. Biosphere and Biosphere III (and indeed Biosphere I and II) are not the same things. In the goodness of time an article about the concept of Biosphere III will be written, I think that Biosphere III not showing up as an empty article can only slow this process down. It's like redirecting football to sport, yes, football is a sport, but what would be the use of the redirect? In a similar way Intensive agriculture would in the goodness of time have its own article, why is it more useful to redirect Intensive agriculture to Agriculture than to have an empty link out from Agriculture to Intensive Agriculture? I'm genuinely interested in this, I think maybe I'm missing the point. Cheers, Ams80 20:59 Apr 25, 2003 (UTC)

Hello Ams80. You asked about some specific examples of redirects that I made, so I'll answer regarding those examples.
First, let me explain my general principle behind these redirects. You'll note first that (I think) I didn't erase any existing content, but instead took empty articles and provided redirects to what appeared to be the best targets. My belief is that instead of having an empty article on cat whiskers, we are better off redirecting that link to cat, where we can then perhaps mention whiskers in a subsection or footnote. Having said that, on to the specific edits you question:
Biosphere III now redirects to Biosphere. Within the Biosphere article, Biosphere III is now mentioned.
Intensive agriculture now redirects to Agriculture. I envision Agriculture as potentially having a general description of types of Agriculture carried out around the world.
Perhaps your example of redirecting football to sport is one extreme of the spectrum, cat whiskers to cat is the other end of the spectrum, and these edits are somewhere in between. -◈¡◈

this redirect is double stupid, since I did a intensive farming which is clearly the article to which intensive agriculture should be redirected. And shows quite clearly how stupid how most of the redirects budda made are. -User:anthere

Ah! So it should have been redirected somewhere, but you failed to do so yourself? Now that you have identified where to link it to, I have done so. Simple! -◈¡◈
I am *currently* in the process of setting that list...You already made me lose many hours these days. That I could have employed more wisely in doing these redirections. Besides, the very point of setting up a list of topics to cover, is precisely to cover them, not to redirect all of them to agriculture or biology. intensive farming definitly require an article on its own, not a poor redirection. -User:anthere
It is easy for wikipedians to commit the mistake of thinking they "own" an article. When you write an encylopedia article for intensive farming please post it, but in the meantime a redirect to intensive agriculture will have to do. -◈¡◈

As for why agri articles, it is quite simple. Budda went through some list I intended to fill (or to be filled by others) in sustainable agriculture List of sustainable agriculture topics. A few hours ago, this list had about half of the items empty, nice topics to fill for the pleasure of those interested by this topic. Now, all the articles are linked, half of them being linked stupidely. Budda also did the same to some of the articles I recently edited. Each time of link was empty, he added a meaningless redirect. Also did a couple of stupid edits, such as the one you mention. I am glad others noticed. -User:anthere

Yes, I was in the agriculture articles and I found them full of empty links of questionable current and future value. I believe the encylopedia is better served by having some of these point to relavant topics, so I did so. -◈¡◈
of course, what about listing all the birds species you can think of, then redirect all ot them to bird. That's a very good and valuable move. -User:anthere
No, Anthere, I did no such think to the many species of animals which I have found suffering from empty links. -◈¡◈

So the missing point is : let's have a good time on anthere, to make her suffer from daring to complain on articles such as anti-french sentiment, or just maybe because I am french, or just because he is bored. This serie of stupid redirections is just personal revenge. That's the benefit against ruining people work and potentially good encyclopedia. Budda is just a vandal. -User:anthere

Moi, a vandal? I think you are just being pissy because I pointed out that "drought" does not equal "frost", pointed out that the UN is not the only organization with a set of Good Agricultural Practices, and that you misunderstand the intent when someone asks you to cite references. -◈¡◈
yes, a vandal. I am certainly very pissed of by having you on my back making me lose my time at restoring your irrelevant redirections. I understand pretty well you are trying to have foreigners go away from the encyclopedia. Please, have a good time on genetic engineering. We could have done some good work there I think. I was ready to forget these issues of drough and references. But I see clearly all your current intent is to piss off people and I would appreciate you go pissing of other people than me from now on.
I suggest, Anthere, that you may wish to AssumeGoodFaith in your relations with BigFatBuddha, rather than speculating as to hir motives. Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity. Martin
That is the assumption I had made towards her all along. -◈¡◈

The use of the "v-word" here is, IMO, not appropriate. But Buddha should be careful about his karma or else he might be reincarnated as a smelly troll. --mav
