The 15th Asian Games Opening Ceremony was held in Doha, Qatar on December 1 marking the start of the 2006 Asian Games. The ceremony took place in the mult-purpose built dollar Khalifa International Stadium, the stadium was specificallly renovated for the Asian Games. The ceremony was attended by over 50,000 spectators, 20,000 atlethees and performers including Asian heads-of-state with the International Olympic Comittee Jacqeus Rouge in attendance. The officals and organisers of the ceremony promised it to be the most spectacular Opening Ceremony in recent years.
