China Center of Adoption Affairs

The China Center of Adoption Affairs, (CCAA), is the agency responsible for both domestic and international adoption of Chinese orphans and also with the care of the children in China's social welfare system. The CCAA was founded in 1996 and is located in Beijing.

Adoption to the United States

China first allowed adoptions to the United States in 1991[1]. As of US FY 1995, there were over 3,600[2]. As of FY 2000, the number increased more than five times to over 20,000 children[3]. As of FY 2005, over 32,000 additional children were adopted[4]. In the first fifteen years, over 56,000 US couples and single parents have adopted from China.

Adoption to other countries

As of September 30 2005, China has agreements with the following 16 nations for inner-country adoption: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. [5]
