In female anatomy, the soft mound of flesh at the front of the vulva is the mons pubis. Or specifically for humans, the mons veneris or "mount of Venus". After puberty it is normally covered with pubic hair to a greater or lesser extent. The labia majora or large lips extend on either side of the vulva, and may also be covered with pubic hair.
The mons Veneris is a triangular area on women at the bottom of the abdomen, between the legs, and just over the vulva. It is usually the area covered by pubic hair. The mons veneris is usually raised above the surrounding area due to a pad of fat lying just beneath it. Mons Veneris means "mound of Venus", Venus being the Roman goddess of love.
