Mati Shemoelof
Mati Shemoelof (In Hebrew: מתי שמואלוף ,שמואלוף, Born in the July, 11, 1972), Israeli, Mizrahi Jew, Poet, Editor and Journalist.
Early Life
Born in Haifa he later on finished his first degree in the Tel Aviv University in the Theater department. He is part of Van-Leer (Jerusalem) young scholars group that deals with the issues of Identity and Class.
Shemoelof was one of the founders of the Haifa branch of the political info-shop called “Salon Mazal”. He is also part of the “Mizrahi Democratic Rainbow Coalition”. From 2006 he edits the Literature Journal – “Ha’Civon Mizrahi”. He is a journalist as Open-Ed on NRG site and Maariv and in the Jerusalem branch of Maariv – “Kol Ha’Zman”; on the Culture Section.

Mati Shemoelof published two poetry books -

- “Ha Civon Mizrah”, Vol. 12, summer, 2006 - Which was dedicated to the work of poet Erez Bitton.
- “Ha Civon Mizrah”, Vol. 13, winter, 2007- The Mizrahi Gallery taking-back the right to speak: A critical discussion on Football.
And many poetry, articles in different magazines, and journals such as: “Apirion”, “Emda”, “Iton 77”, "Moznaim" etc.
In 2003 he wrote, and produced a play named: “Ma Nolad Me Tekes Yom Ha’Ziicaron” (Translated: “A Special Memory Day”) in the second Small Bama festival, on the Tel-Aviv University.
Recent Political Activities
Mati Shemoelof was one of the young leaders of signed a young poets, and Authors who called for the ceize-fire in the Second Lebanon War. This Petition was organized by Dodi Bosi (Author), Shimon Adaf (Poet), Nir Baram (Author and Editor) and was signed by Nimrod Kamer, Yaron London and many notable Israeli publicists.
