Zuunmod

Dsuunmod is the center of Mongolia's Töv Aimag. It is located 30 km south of Ulaanbaatar and has a population of about 20,000 inhabitants.

In 1696, this was the place where troops of the Qing emperor Kangxi and the Khalkha defeated the army of Galdan Khan of the Jungar (Battle of Juun modu). Galdan's wife was killed, and he himself died about a year later, probaby from suicide.
