Hi Hawthorn. Glad to see there's another contributor interested in birds. I assume from your contributions list that your a Kiwi, which helps with coverage of the southern hemisphere. I expect you've come across Tannin by now, our bird man in Oz.

Re Maori Wars, you are quie right in what you have said about my closing comments. Moutoa Gardens or Bastion Point were not really part of the Maori Wars but are they really all that seperate from them, the issues are the same. it is only the nature of the conflict that has changed When I included them I was thinking of Clausewitz {maybe} who said "War is Diplomacy by other means" So the Courtroom has come to be arena of modern war in New Zealand. Perhaps I didn't make the distinction clearly enough. Ping 08:51 9 Jun 2003 (UTC)
